I thought I better add to the heads up I got at this forum and then confirmed at a shop; indirectly.

There may be a problem with a batch on Son-T agro bulbs, best to saty away from that one for a while. Phoning in a complaint might not be a good idea.

The one thats in there atm is running well. I dont want to think how long the Son-T was miss firing for. I hope I cought itnat 3 days disturbed light pattern, with 2 weeks for the VK and maybe 3-4 for the OG. Not sure now tho ... wait and see.

I got annual leaf comming up :D harvest time again gunna take a cuppla weeks mid October. See what we are playing with this time around.

+1 with above and if its not that, try screwing it outta the fitting, if its got black scorch marks.... its not screwed in properly or ya got a faulty fitting. Sand paper if scorched, unplugged.

Pretty shit telling people theres a faulty batch, when you don't even know for sure, Philips has some of the worlds best quality control, probably only second to Gavita.

And most hydro shops wouldn't know their arse from their elbow......... and the owner of the store isn't philips.

Why is putting in a complaint not a good idea?

If ya haved one thats legit and thats not your own doing.......

I'm running 2x son-t agro 600w hps globes in my flowering tent and they're awesome.  My plants have always seemed to prefer them in the past and I'll go back to them in the future.  The manufacturer might have released a bad batch of globes but they would have got on to it pretty quickly through quality control and if I had a bad one I would shoot them an email or phone them up to get a replacement as we have the expectaction of their products working as described and are usually entitled to a replacement or refund when things don't work as expected.

I would only recommend against buying son-t globes if you can only afford to buy globes once and can't wait for a replacement globe if it fails.  For everyone else I would still say take the risk with them as they're great globes and you should be covered if it fails by your hydro shop immediately if they're good about things or the manufacturer a little later at worst :)

Mighta had something to do with my problem-just gotta trust it now though, its all I got lol  Next globe will definitely be one for a digital ballast I think. Just for peace of mind.  I'll put the old luca in if it is.  Digi bulbs?  Whatchyas using?

Cheers for the heads up iTiC

You should check out the solis-tek range, far superior to Philips son-t, and they are designed for digi ballasts. And their ballasts are also VERY good, I swapped my lumatek 600w digi ballast for a solis-tek 600w digi and never looked back. Having said that, I used my son-t 600HPS in a digita lumatek ballast and never had any problem.

And I agree, if Phillips had a bad batch ,they would have recalled them immediately..........
