CFL Methods

Recommended Posts

Hi ladiegreen

Yes a CFL can be used from start to finish for a grow there are a few diffrent wattage CFL on the marked.

Ones used most are the 125w clf you will see on ebay, most people only use them for a veg stage or mother plants and seedlings and will use a HID for the veg and flower.

The 80w CFL on ebay i have used and may others do as well for veg seedlings and mother plants.

There is one guy on here that has used the 80w CFL to grow a plant from strat to finsh and did well from it...

heya Ladiegreen i currently have a small cupboard setup running a single 80w CFL - you can see the size of the cupboard is quite small only about 40x40cm and about 1.8m high

8 weeks now into flower but those pics were taken at 6 weeks!

this is my first real indoor grow so i can't personally compare to a HPS / HID, but i am gobsmacked at the results so far - the buds look and smell as good or even better then what id normally have to buy so thats an instant win right there.

These ones you buy from most hydro shops, ask for the 80w Philips CFL and they should know what your talking about, also maybe at bunnings (not sure)

They only require a standard E40 fitting and are 240v, so no ballast and plugs straight into the wall socket

Im pretty sure this is the spec sheet for them.

and here is a random youtube clip of a guy who's grown a comparison, only real difference is the density of the buds, due to light penetration.

and if heat is a problem like you said plays a big part i think its a decent trade off.
