Indoor or Outdoor..... That is the question!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Just wondering if I could get some thoughts.

I just recently have been smoking some really mouthwatering outdoor from a good friend of mine. Im loving this bud soooo much right now. More a Sativa type high which is my fave.

He prefers outdoor organic style growing where as I have only really got into the indoor at the moment.

After buying a couple oz's at mates rates I know have a nice collection of some really well formed, pretty seeds as well as some he gave me of the same strain. I have popped 3 seeds and have some strong looking seedlings working on their 3rd nodes now just chilling in my veg box.

My biggest question is should I continue these babies indoors OR because its almost that time of year, should I move these babies outdoors in a couple weeks?

I have never grown outdoor as I said so I'm apprehensive but my mate says he prefers it over indoor any day.

If this strain has done so well outdoors should I mess with it?

Obviously all could go wrong and these 3 babies could all be male (which would be my luck!)

Thoughts would be sweet lol

Thanks guys

If you have private and secure outdoor space - by all means grow them outdoors. Mind you, planting out sativa dom seedlings in September could mean you have 12 foot or more of plant sticking out like a mobile phone tower from the back garden.

For more manageable 8ft plants, I plant out mid to end November.

Being a long time outdoor grower I'd recommend it over indoors any time with the proviso that you have a secure, safe outdoors spot that gets plenty of sun.

While some indoors growers complain about the 6 months growing time, I've found it's easy to plan your grow, prepare the patch and get a full year's supply stored and curing.

Stix talks about the heat; my experience is that canna just LURVS the heat and even if they wilt a bit at the end of a hot day, water and overnight will see them strong and straight again next day. If the seeds you have are acclimatised to growing outdoors there's nothing to lose by trying.

Canna grows very happily planted close. Mine grow about 30cm apart, when they leaf up a bit, they create an ecosystem underneath that keeps in moisture. I pull all the males (except two breeders) making a bit more space for the females come January.

Main things, as I said above is privacy and exposure to sunlight. If you've got both, give it a try.

Best answer is personal preference, and the only way to figure it out is to try both.  If you like the taste of what he grew, then you will need to grow outside in soil to get the same taste, I prefer it.  But as you have a few seeds it may be worth growing a couple each way if you can find a good secure spot.  Being sat dom, if you want to grow indoor, flip the lights to flower nice and early if you want to keep them contained.  Good luck

Thanks everyone.

Due to my power box exploding all plants are going outside today :-( hopefully only temporarily. Really I only care about my White Widow and the OG Kush. The others I wouldn't be devo if they died.

Can anyone suggest any organic nutes I can just pick up from any nursery? I've seen people say Thrive works well.

Any who if I'm gonna try outdoor I want to keep it super simple. I obviously have had no pest problems up till now being indoor but I'm sure that's all about to change lol I have neem oil but is there something better for pest control?
