using up time, sweat and a little blood

Recommended Posts

So I'm renting a house and it had this really annoying bamboo plant. Along the back fence it keep putting runners out along the lawn and rats would hide in there.

So I got sick of it got the real estate to fix the problem.

So they sprayed it and that's it, it died quickly but its looking ugly as and bamboo leaves falling off.

So I told my wife I'm gonna make a veggie garden.

So I looked on gumtree for bricks, sleepers or something I could use.

So I got around 200+ bricks from around the corner for free, I was quiet lucky as when I picked them upthey said they had a lot of people calling and enquiring about it.

But I got them home in the back of my little astina hatchback at 20km and bottoming out if any faster.

So I started with removing the dead bamboo which was so bloody easy now for the trees stump so I started by chopping the roots off that where in the area I was going to use, with only a garden fork madic and a shovel.

Over a week it was out, but to get this all done took about 2 months as of bad weather.

So this was before.post-50737-0-64454400-1374669366_thumb.jpegpost-50737-0-52185600-1374669390_thumb.jpeg

Compared to now, what you think?post-50737-0-03748600-1374669413_thumb.jpegpost-50737-0-20506200-1374669455_thumb.jpg

It got pumpkins tomatoes capsicum and just strouting custard apple.

All the plants were free as they grow when the rain stop out of the compost I was building up from workand home.

So a organic free veggie garden. Yay ! Winning.

Yeah I see what you mean.

I can't ready recall but it might of been but might of been round up.

But it was sprayed probably 6-8 months before.

And over those months we have had a lot of rain before plants were planted so I would like to think the poison  has moved though or been flushed out.

Way better fuzzi  hard work will pay off... I cant see what ever they sprayed being a problem ..... I use a poison all the time especially when making new vegie beds and im still alive .....go figure? lol

Are your pumpkins at the back of your bed ? might want to train the leaders to go straight out of the bed ....I like to train them to grow into a cirlce on the lawn so it doesnt try and take over the other vegies areas

Never grown custard apples ..... wouldnt mind though ........

Cheers everyone.

I Srsly don't think there will be a problem we have had so much rain.

the pumpkins are on the edge most at the back or side, thinking of maybe training the back ones to climb the fence just waiting for them to grow, I see what will happen, I remember when I was a kid and my dads pumpkins ran about 30-40m

I've only have grown tomatoes before, custard apples I don't even know what the plant looks like.
