I do believe this is my first problem post... not that I don't experience the odd problem but I can usually resolve most issues... have to say this one has me stumped.

It all began nearly 4 weeks ago when I noticed that the growing tips on one of my plants were pale in colour and physically distorted. I thought it may be light bleaching as I had the light very close to the plants and when I raised the light the leaves appeared to grow out of the distortion and green up.

The thing is the new growth is still emerging bleached and distorted... but once the leaves are a couple of weeks old they appear more normally shaped and develop a reasonable shade of green.

I have checked all the usual 'plant problem' resources and can't find anything (disease or deficiency) that fits these symptoms. So I am wondering if anyone else has had a plant behave in this manner.

No worries Nay, as usual I have ended up with more female plants than the tent can hold. The leaves really have me stumped, some look like Mg deficiency pattern, others look like Zn, but after a couple of weeks the leaves are completely green.

I don't know of any deficiency that gets better without you actually adding the missing mineral.

Think I'll stick her out in the shade house and see what happens... if the problem is related to the tent lighting. I expect it should clear up outside.

Wanted to help Lou but I have no idea, however your lighting comment reminded me of an incident I had with a HPS globe going way past its prime (disclaimer, this was 17 years ago + stoner memory).  It was similar to yours but the tips and top leaves were also stretchy and spindly in mid flower.  I assume that your globe isn't old, especially as it's only the one plant.  Hope you figure it out, it's almost as if the plant is struggling to pump the goodness all the way to the ends.

Ty Hashy, the globe is approaching the end of its useful life, but yes, it's only one plant growing strangely. There are another 3 of the same strain and age, a revegging kush and four younger, home grown, hybrids that all look suitably healthy.

Hi nici, you may have had a sulphur problem, that will cause bleaching in the younger leaves and be rectified by Epsom Salts. In my case the leaves emerge from the shoot bleached, develop a stripey look (like Mg def) then green with a fringe of bleached leaf (like Zn def) and then finally the leaves turn completely green.

Thanks for making the effort guys, will let you know if there are any changes once she is under natural lighting.

hey lou, sorry this is a bit late, hopefully not too late but i would say that she has a zinc def.

its definitely not MG as that would start at the bottom of the plant. the fact it is starting in the new tips says its not mobile. also it looks as though vertical growth has slowed and the new shoots are stunted and small and tightly bunched together. that sort of says zinc to me.

i could be wrong but it would be worth looking into if you want to save her.

otherwise maybe broad mites? i doubt it though since its just the one and i wouldnt wish that on anyone. i have ever had them but i hear they are nasty buggers

If they have any Blueberry in them, I would say your E.C. is way to high @ 1.8.

Blueberry strains are very light feeders.

They are definately having trouble getting Nitrogen.

I have to say it thou, looks like your PH is WAY out. How long since you checked the calibration of your ph meter.

What does your nutrient consist of to get it @ 1.8 in Veg?

I have to disagree with 1.8 e.c. being too high, it hasn't worried mine.
