coco troubles/nutes

Recommended Posts

yeh cheers!  I'm going for NF coco nutes I think..can you do the exact same medium minus nutes for seedlings? aka perlite and coco? im keen as anything to start but its too early to start under cfl's then outdoors I think.. is it aug/sept to start outdoors roughly?

Yes, it is best to use the same medium from seedling to finish. I use the same 50:50 mix of coco and perlite for seeds, clones, vegging and flowering. Only the nutrients change.

I think August/September is still a bit early... but I understand it can be hard to wait.

wow very informative stuff man, geatly appreciated! big ups...do you reckon the 2 part pot with clay balls would help outdoors as well?

No worries, its what I did the tutes for. you can use the 2 part pots outside if ya like. I would just go the biggest pot I can... 50L or in the ground.

And I try and veg some plants up and have em out by late July/ Early August, but as seeds or seedlings they will probably die in this area.

I always got buds for chrissy then , months before the frosts. If ya keep ya vegging plants in a cool area while they veg up, should be no need to aclimatize them to outside. If ya babied them at between 24-28c and they been all toasty, then yes, do it.

Peace. Nibbler.

Make sure the nutrients are coco specific, add perlite as desired, don't use peat (it's not needed, it increases acidity as it decomposes and it's not an environmentally sound product) oh, and don't recirc nutrient solution (run-to-waste).

I am sure you have grown hundreds of cannabis plants previously in a coco medium and all ... but suggesting the use of solely a coco-specific nutrient is narrowminded indeed. I would actually advise on Dutch Master gold over the NF coco nutrients, i know, i've used em with coco previously.

Peace!

I have found DM gold is great in all other mediums except coco. NF coco, H&G coco and Canna Coco I have found all to work better

DM gold in coco is fine if your feeding regime is similiar to feed/feed/straight water(I prefer using an aerated tea on the 3rd feed instead of straight water), wax on wax off. I prefer DM Gold Vege nutrients in coco for vege over many other a/b base nutrients that ive sampled so far. Much of the DM line is decent enough, take for example their DM Zone, it evaporates completely when applied at the right rate via foliar spraying and WILL eliminate PM. Its temporarily systemic and will fight the infection if it is affecting the internal cellular structure of the plant. It's a great root system steriliser also and helps a sick root system.

cheers'

I'll answer this even though the poster seems to have got himself banned before I had a chance to read it...

When new growers ask for advice, I suggest things that I know are going to work for new growers. Some may call that narrow minded, but I like people to experience success early with their new hobby.

Tinkering with nutrients, mediums and lighting schedules are best saved for after the first couple of grows.
