Female among Hermies? Help please [PICS]

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

So..I made the mistake listed in the newbies mistakes growing guide....i took my first seeds from a seeded plant that I think may have been a hermie...

Anyway 5 weeks on , planted about 10 seeds , a few died , left with about 4 plants. My very first grow so I wanted to play around with these plants before I planted my proper autoflowering feminised ones.....

It seems while mature , the plants are stunted. They are very small and don't seem to want to grow

PH levels are fine , put in 1.4 strength nutes , getting enough light....could this possibly be a sign of hermaphroditism?

The biggest plant is only 3 weeks old! ( in photo of 4 plants , bottom left) but much bigger then the rest(the fan leaves on this one is bigger then all my other plants)

The rest are 5.5 weeks and are disappointing ( look at $2 coin for reference size)

At the rate these plants are going , and considering they came from seeded marijuana , should I bin all but the biggest one to start my grow with the proper seeds or should I ride it out for another week or two?

What's the reason for the massive difference in growth between the largest one(3 weeks old) and the rest( 5.5 weeks old)

6.5ph,garden soil, perlite, dolomite lime,400w metal halide.miracle grow 1/4 strength nutrients put in 3 days ago .watering once every week when top 2 inches are dry.always moist

Thanks in advance for any help

Bro, once they are in flower, you can distinguish the sex by either the white hairs, which represent pistillate, or female flowers, or balls and bananas, little yellow petals instead of hairs. These are staminate, or male flowers. You have around a week to dispose of males before pollination, but if the seeds are from a hermie, then you will most likely be growing them now.

Don't stress, as this may be a blessing in disguise. Grow them regardless, in the meantime, study up on harvesting, curing and thc extracts. Use your first grow as a learning tool for all these things, if they do turn out to be hermies. It's much better than smoking seedy nugs, and you get to try your hand at hash and oil, in preparation for when you step up to fem seed.

By the way, my last grow was a tent full of hermie Afghani, they can be useful, such is the versatility of the cannabis culture:-)

Peace Bro, and grow, grow, grow:-)

Even if the mother had been a hemaphrodite, it wont impact on the way the plants grow through the seedling and vegetative stages. Only flowering should be affected.

It seems while mature , the plants are stunted. They are very small and don't seem to want to grow

The issue will be environmental, slow growth and/or stunted plants are not signs of hermaphroditism.

What's the reason for the massive difference in growth between the largest one(3 weeks old) and the rest( 5.5 weeks old)

Only you will be able to answer that question... the only thing I can think of is that whatever was a problem for the first seeds you planted had been rectified by the time you planted the last one.
