Now I see prices of 20 bucks for a tiny number of which half might not germinate and another half might be male. You could end up paying 5 bucks a seed.

 

$20 packs of seed, geez, thats super cheap seed mate.

 

Ive been guilty of paying $25 a seed on some purchases, but even that is nothing, recently 10 seeds of "venomberry" from dutch flowers sold for $1300usd.

 

But always a good price if the weed is good, the best plant can be kept from those seeds indefinately as a mother plant, and all female plants grown forever.

 

but even a $20 pack of seeds, your gonna get $20 worth of smoke out of it.

I'm not trying to win an award. Just grow a little smoko. Maybe I'm a tightass. In fact I'm pretty sure I am. Twenty bucks or more like twenty five even for bargain basement shit isn't a fortune but its a few days petrol or a couple of bags of groceries.

 

Its like buying bottled water in my mind. Theres virtually no difference between the mineral crap and tap water which is free. The mineral water producers typically pay around a dollar for each olympic sized swimming pool of their product. With seed its the same kind of story. The breeders have zillions of fucking seeds and charge atleast a dollar for each. Thats crazy. Another reason to legalise!

thats crazy talk, it'd be crazy enough to say homebrand cola is better then coke, but what you are saying is sumones backyard cola homebrew is better than coca-cola. (i think all cola tastes like shit myself, but just a e.g.)

The top cannabis breeders grow huge numbers of plants and select the finest few from up to 100,000 plants each generation to breed with, never anywhere in the world has that been totally legal, its always been a grey area of law in the areas its done, such as switzerland, holland and spain. Its a very competitive business, and the seedbanks are willing to spend shitloads of time and effort and risk their arses on creating seeds of higher quality then the average cannabis out there.

 

Potent cannabis is not a natural thing, it has been bred for 1000's of years to improve it by traditional weed and hashish cultures, and the more selective pressure still placed on these lines, especially using todays modern breeding knowledge, the more potential they have of improving in potency each generation. Without enuf selective pressure put on them, cannabis strains will become generic of their environment over time.

 

Its your choice to spend your money elsewhere, buts its not right to say that bagseed and proffesionally bred seed is the same thing. Those seeds have been made for a purpose (other than the obvious profit one) it was a conscience effort to improve cannabis in some way or another, If people didnt spend shitloads on growing different exotic expensive new seed varieties from all over the world, the bagseed you grew would all be alot shittier.

 

Oh and as for the water thing, speak for yourself, my tap water is completely untreated and unfiltered and noone in town can drink it, it leaves a silt on the floor of the shower, and is usually sumwhere between piss yellow and watery diahrrea brown, Spring water is 700x better than that shit, all depends where you at.

 

And its not so much different with any type of plant in the world, you can get expensive boutique packets of tomatoe, onion, daisies, fucking anything, but these expensive elite seeds are purchased by larger seed producers such as yates might assign a farmer/seedmaker to create an F2 generation or an F1 hybrid between to elite IBL varieties, allowing the boutique "breeders" to concentrate on breeding and testing their different breeds, while other companies can produce the seed in bulk for public and spread it cheaply, this is sort of happening in the cannabis seed world, alot of companies are starting up just to sell F2's of expensive varieties to people who cant afford to pay the prices the strain originators charge for them.

 

anyway rambled, eh, but shits worth what dickheads like me will pay for it, and I'm addicted to buying the things. So while folks like me willing to pay what they charge for the seeds exist, you wont get your 10c a seed dream....

 

@ budhead, put the right address on your envelope in clear writing and you'll have no problems buddy, but yeah, mail is returned to HS anyways, but better to avoid all that hassle in the first place eh
