End of my first DWC cycle

Recommended Posts

Been using DWC for several years now. Takes some getting used to but once u have the knack it’s a synch plus less work than coco. coco always gave me good yields and is admittedly a very forgiving medium if u pump fucks out on you while ur away, but id fuck my back transferring wet coco outa pots every harvest was a nightmare id not look forward to rather than the wetdream it should be. plus wasn’t ideal havin cunts see coco strewn around the veggie patch dotted with  perlite which never broke down. My first DWC was a shit. Used some chems which were meant to sterilize the system. Dutchmaster zone; I cant belive ppl swear by it, if u looked t the engredients the contents are not ‘life’ friendly and i burned the crap outa two girls clostest to the circulating pump - one never recovered fully. eventually i took a more scientific approach and started listening to what the commercial guys were doing. the key is keep ur system clean – not sterile! sterile is a futile benchmark to aim for unless you have a fucking lab. essentials are low EC – 0.2 to start during vege and never let it get above 0.9 which was in week 5-6, correct use of pH buffers and A and B nutes, a bloody good air pump and accessories, a sizable enough chiller, small circulating pump and no additives. root growth is explosive, masses of bright white giant  underwater caterpillars and vege time is essentially cut in half. whats great about DWC is if ur trying different strains for the first time and not familiar with nute load requirements the plants actually tell u what they need – all u do is measure EC, if its remaining static, or only going down slightly ur pretty much at optimal value. i  flush every 5 days cos although EC meters measure salt content they don’t measure ratios of NPK. to flush i turn a tap. To refill i turn a tap. easy peasy. Yield is on average around 15 - 18% more than I ever got with coco with the same number of lights which is a massive increase if u think about it. For much less work too. thinking about getting peristaltic pumps for pH up and down with sensor system soon. I haven’t decided on a brand yet but i like the advanced comms and data output sytsems that let u run remote

Ideally, one day i can be at work whilst checking up on the rig off an android app J
