Best seed choice river bank in SW QLD hot climate

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I am wanting some advice from fellow Aussies on a suitable seed to choose. No doubt the workers in the shops in Amsterdam etc know their stuff but you just cant beat local knowledge. I want to buy feminised seeds to grow on a riverbank in SW QLD. so simply I want seeds/strain that is:

1. Suitable for warm weather sometimes reaching 40 degrees

2. Suitable to grow on river bank with minimal care

3. LARGE growing plant

4. Tight, compact buds

5. Feminised Seeds.

6. Relatively fast yield

I know how complex growing can be but I wish to keep it relatively simple. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if you could point me in the right direction of where to get seeds at a good price would be great. Cant wait to hear from all of you stoned Einsteins :) Cheers.

Dirk

Instantly I was thinking of something based from Malawi Gold just because of a doco I watched last night :P

The Doco::

Malawi Climate::
"A hot, dry season lasts from September to October with average temperatures varying between 25 and 37 degrees Celsius"
Matches possibly the climate you want to grow in, so not pushing the genetics outside its normal environment much

"Swazi Gold"

Brought back to Malawi by Malawian gold miners during Theba 1940-1980 and World renowned! Swazi Gold is known for its sweet distinct taste and quick high. Strong growth and a good building block for breeders.

Variety type: Regular Sativa
THC: High, 14-18%
Yield: Good 650-780g/m2
Grow: 2.5-3m Indoor/Outdoor
Grow Difficulty: Easy
Genetics: 100% Swazi Gold
Ascetics: Christmas tree, multi branched
Buds: Big heavy branched
Flavour: Sweet citrus

Thanks buddy I like the look of that strain ill do a little more reading about it.

I guess im not really in a rush. I want to get the longest season possible so

I get plenty of yield. Is August the best time to plant to get a big plant?

is there one seed site that is much cheaper than the rest? they all seem very

expensive and surely theres one that's under cutting everyone! I guess if all

goes well its not really very expensive. Thanks guys

ok so im not looking at a 50/50 strain from southernstarseeds called super deluxe. Unfortunately I am unable to get feminised seeds from these guys. What is going to be the easiest way to rid the males? I guess I might have to start an indoor clone before the season what do you guys reckon? it is described as follows: they also said its great for hot weather

This is the pinnacle of Southern Star Seeds breeding and cannot be recommended enough.

An up and speedy high, this is a favourite daytime smoke here. The motherplant was a God Bud Super Silver Haze, that was then pollinated by a BerryHaze.

The plant will grow very large and is best suited for outdoor growing, but will perform well indoors if flowering is started from clone.

The taste is a merlin’s hat of flavour. The strain is also totally pest and disease resistant so can be grown anywhere.

This is a must for any collection.

Grow Environment: Outdoors for best results, but will grow indoors well from clone.

Seeds per pack : 10 regular seeds

Flowering Time : 8-10 weeks

Not sure if you've grown or cloned before so here's the short version of what you'll need to do...... You're going to need to start at least 3-4 seeds minimum to see if you get a female, grow them out a couple of weeks, sex them, get rid of the males, flip the female/s back to veg (if you get any, if not start again) , take some clones, root them then plant out rooted female clones...... If that's too much work, just plant out all you seeds and weed out the males when they show sex - enjoy!

Thanks Nici. I have done a little growing before but haven't cloned. Looks pretty easy though. If I do the latter method, what is the time frame or chances that all my plants will become males due to another male around? I was thinking of getting one of those little aerogarden to grow a nice female up quickly to get clones off is anyone familiar with these? This may be better as Ill be able to control the lighting and trick them into flowering nice and early. theres a fair bit of info on the net but if anyone has anything to say im all ears :) thanks
