POLICE seized drugs with a street value of around $15,000 at a Denmark property this week as part of Operation High Tide, the region's crackdown on the illegal drug trade.

Eight men and one woman have now been charged in the past two months.

Police went to a property at Byleveld Road, William Bay, on Tuesday afternoon after a tip-off from the public.

Around a kilogram of dried cannabis and four mature cannabis plants were seized from a shed.

A small amount of cannabis material was located in the house.

A 41-year-old man has been charged with one count of cultivating a prohibited plant and one charge of possession of a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply.

He appeared in Denmark Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge and was fined $500 plus costs.

He was not required to enter a plea on the charge of possession with intent to sell or supply and will appear in Albany Magistrate's Court on April 15.

Operation High Tide began 18 months ago.

Albany District Police's Inspector Len Hornsby said the latest arrest was another indication of the success of the High Tide operation.

Drugs with a street value of over $1 million have been seized.

A raid two weeks ago in secluded areas of bush around Denmark and Walpole uncovered crops containing 500 cannabis plants.

"This is part of a no-tolerance approach on illegal drugs led by Superintentent John Watson," Inspr Hornsby said.

"It is not over yet. If you have any thought about being involved in this type of offence, think again. We will be knocking on your door."

He said the public was an important part of the operation and called for residents to continue to provide information.

"If people have any information in relation to the cultivation, use or distribution of drugs, they should contact local police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000," Insp Hornsby said.

All information would be treated confidentially.
