Yeah I pay $22 for 20 litres of perlite. And I try not to buy anything from the hydro shop. All their prices seem greatly inflated when comparing to online prices. And if you are worried about delivery just get it sent to your mate/mum/cousin in the area.

Dont be afraid to price hunt or get the locals to undercut each other. You'd be surprised at what a little competition can do, also maybe look at buying in bulk? I get 100L bags of Perlite for $44 locally without any discounts or whatnot. When I bought my Inline fan they slashed $100 off the shelf price for me without me saying a thing, my first purchase of kit I got a free 150mm Cooltube.

Heck, Doctor Who got a beer stubby with tits on it from his Hydro shop :P

Long story short, not all hydro shops are out to rip you off. Alot of the owners are friendly and happy to help provided you smile and are polite

I have to agree, my local store owner is very competitive even against online stores, Stocks only quality products, and doesn't try to sell you anything you don't need. Also will try and order things he don't have in for ya, i'm personally not gonna bother with buying online again. until i have to move areas.

Resisting the trend to buy things online is probably a good thing.

Keep that foot print as small as possible; paying cash at a shop not too local to you is the smartest move.

One duristiction to another, makes someone that might only be running a cupboard somewhere look like a small time pain in the arse. IF anyting is actually happening at that shop.

If at all possible go for a good long drive. Make that $50 you spending 100'kms from home look very small. Paying cash is perfect.

If they decide to do a "Random breath test" and have some sort of suspicion and search your car. You only have one component of a grow room at at time.

I'd never buy the clay balls, even tho they are great, they just scream 'indoor hyrdo' to anyone in the know.

Perlite/Vermiculite is less suss, and both are recyclable.

Coco is good... i just hate insects, flys are not OK. A stray gnat flying past someones nose= not good.
