tmer
What happens if you leave bud past its intended harvest date? does it immediately rot/decompose, or is there some intermittent stage?
onemancrew
As far as I know. The THC begins to break down into CBD and the bud will eventually shrivel up and the plant will start to re-veg when the days start getting longer.... EDIT: CBD is a Mistake thanks to forgetiwashere for the correction. it should be CBN not CBD. Edited April 20, 2013 by onemancrew
tmer
So is bud that is used for medicinal purposes left on the stalk longer ? (because of higher CBD content)
merl1n
OK, I do this purposely every grow, when the hairs brown and drop off the bud swells from within as new hairs develop inside the bud. The calxys open and the new hairs show. These also go through the same process of browning. I allow mine to brown off three times before I harvest. The maturity in the resulting smoke is very nice indeed. So don't be too worried Merl1n
onemancrew
tmer So is bud that is used for medicinal purposes left on the stalk longer ? (because of higher CBD content) Im dont know about that, but from everything ive read about medicinal purposes says indicas are generally more medicinal in nature due to the Lower THC but higher CBD content creates a more pain relieving feeling. forgetiwashere
actually THC degrades into CBN not CBD. CBN is the one that makes you feel sleepy or drowsy.

forgetiwashere
i dont think CBN is a particularly bad thing. i mean think about it. we all like to wait till our weed is mature before we harvest suggesting we all like a little CBN and we all know that a nice long cured bud is a wonderful thing and we also know that while it is curing some of the THC is degrading to CBN yet it is improving the quality of the high. i think CBN gives your weed that relaxing feel. it takes the edge off. im a sativa lover and i love racy high's but they still need to have a little of this calming effect, i think CBN is our friend
