I read somewhere that if you give your plants 24-72hrs of total darkness just before you chop it, it will throw out the last of the trichomes. Does anyone do this & how long do you give it.Thanks Edited April 18, 2013 by KAPOW

From my own experience it does help a little but more weight is gained by leaving the lights on.  Which way you go depends on what you want more.

Sounds like crap to me, would be interested in any actual testing of the theory.

 

eg. 5 clones removed from the flower room and placed in darkness for the last day or two and 5 left in the flower room. Extract the oil from the plants in each of the two groups and compare the yield.

 

If you don't have enough trichomes get a better phenotype or strain imo.

Tried it, waste of time. supposed to stress em, like feeding em straight water isn't stress enough. . Used to do 48-72 hours darkness, but no real benefit. If ya cant make resins in 8 weeks of flowering + , then it aint gonna happen miraculously in a few days.

Anecdotally, I believe it works to increase resin production. White Widow seems to respond favorably, others seem to not care.

Im no scientist, just a hack grower thats done it.

 

Do it and see for yourself, nothing to lose...

I have done it b4 but did not notice much or if any different. Was just wondering what are other growers are doing just be 4 they harvest, to get the last bit of THC out. My dealer reckons to boil the roots. Anyone tried that. Sounds a little extreme to me.
