Volksgarden Australia

Recommended Posts

Not sure I agree Nibbler...The drum would rotate very slowly...I don't think you would need a very big motor at all to drive it, considering the speed at which it would be required to rotate

Its not the speed buzzo, it doesnt fly roud like a car wheel, its the load, all those plants, the frame work, the wet medium, that takes torque... torque in electric motors means it uses more power.

Peace. Nibbler.

I don't believe it would take much torque to move an evenly weighted wheel myself at low speeds , only to get it going to begin with. The motor would be geared down of course.  It would still be interesting to see what the motor actually draws though .

Vostock I think its time you emailed the volksgarden manufacturer and get us the actual specs so we can evaluate it further. Its not likely than one has even seen foot in Australia .

I'm stunned that Rat and his followers have little knowledge on this, sorry I'm not demeaning you guys but this is concept is popular in AZ, NM, other hot dry arid climes, there is/was a popular thread on YT years ago, also some brit claiming to save $us2500. per machine by DIYing himself

They used to be called roto-gardens years ago ...guess someone gave them a new 'trendy' name lol

Do they work?....yes

Are they a huge fuckaround?...yes

The main reason they were rejected by most in Australia is the large plant numbers needed and the fact there are alot easier ways to grow a garden that are just as effective if not moreso.
