Volksgarden Australia

Recommended Posts

I know this is a serious question, and you are looking for a serious answer, but with a name like Volksgarden it's begging for it:

DIY Aussie Volksgarden - Hippy Powered buds

  • Take 1 Volkswagen Kombi (preferably with flower power paint job) and jack the back end up
  • Hook a generator to one wheel to power the lights, fans, pumps etc
  • Hook up a gearing system to the other wheel to rotate the drums.
  • Set up the inside of the Kombi as a product testing centre.

If you could grow enough plants to offset the Kombi emissions it might even qualify as GREEN.

Q: How much power does the garden consume?

A: The Volksgarden™ draws 6 watts for the rotation motor, and 16 watts for the pump which only needs to run intermittently. The Volksgarden™ lighting options range from 125 / 250 watts Compact Fluorescent up to 400 / 600 / 1,000 watts of High Pressure Sodium depending on your application.

This has been cut and paste from Questions and answers from the Manufacturer..... Omegagarden.com

My conservative guess would have been 20 watts for the motor...So there you go.

Not such a good Idea to question an Electrical Engineer is it !

Sorry Nibbler can't let anyone get away with Q & A on my trade.

As a big fan of VW I like Louise's pic, for those who may consider building there own I recommend they view the 'commercial assembly' and the final DIY clip 'no7', and compare spokes no spokes etc etc, the 'pom' has his DIY job hanging in a confined nth yorkshire attic? which is just too small......a pity for all the work done, very difficult to sell a product if they keep re-naming it every now and then roto-grow, volks garden, now omega garden...? I can imagine there is more...?

One final observation...at the conclusion of the commercial assembly , the fat guy clips the little green boxes to the outside of the wheel, surely they clip to the inside......?

So is that for the industrial one in the First picture Buzzo, or their silly little home version? Because it was the industrial one that was shown first, and the one I answered on.

I think you'll find that the home version is a pissy lil knock off.

Peace. Nibbler.

They are difficult to sell becuase they are overpriced and pretty much usless....not becuase the names for them keeps changing. The name keeps changing every 10 yrs or so to attract noobs who get taken in easily by them thinking it's 'new cutting edge stuff'. When people realise they are crap they stop selling and the name gets changed again lol
