CannabisKangaroo
Hey guys, i've been reading about growing for a year or so now and am ready to get growing. im thinking of growing 3-4 plants in a 4x4 tent with a 600w mh/hps light. im looking at the blue lab ph pen and ppm trencheon and thinking about running general hydroponics nurients as ive never mixed nutrients or fed plants before it seems straight forward. DWC buckets with good air pump and stones also wanting a 4ft 6bulb t5 i was just wondering if yous could help me out with a few questions ive got, firstly id like to know how qld growers go with hydroponics in such high humidity?(this is one of my main concerns about growing, pest and disease proplems) . wheres a good hydroponic shop in SE QLD? do they sell hydrofarm t5 lights? what do you guys think about the grow lush digital ballasts, mh and hps bulbs? if you dont like grow lush, what is a good brand of digital ballast you can recomend? where can i buy some black buckets? any help with these questions would be appreciated. Naycha
Sometimes Bunnings have the black 20L buckets, the white ones are ok though and you can just wrap them if you're worried about the bit of light that does get through. The only thing crapper than growlush ballasts are the growlush bulbs I've had one digital ballast fail on me and the one I have left I am replacing asap, if you absolutely have to use them cause you can't afford better at least get decent globes. I will be replacing mine with Solis Tek ballasts, I haven't used them though so can't recommend them from experience with them. I'm not in QLD but have quite high humidity. The only practical thing I've really been able to do is use a lot of oscillating fans so there are no still areas for moisture to accumulate. Good luck. Sounds like u have some interest in this company any freebies lately The interest I have in this company is they are the next ballasts I'm going to purchase. If I had new free ballasts I wouldn't be using one digital growlush and one magnetic growlush. I thought my above post made it quite clear I haven't used them. The intention of making that clear in the above post is they could be shit for all I know. I thought it might be helpful to mention what I decided on after much research though. How about contributing something instead of being an arrogant dickhead? Naycha
CannabisKangaroo
thanks for your replys. thats a shame to hear because they are the best priced ballasts i can find but i do want one that lasts so i might look into these solis tek ballasts you mentioned. would you know any other decent ballast brands and what bulbs do you use? Fuel
Dont get too discouraged if Grow Lush is all you can afford and you already bought them. You will just need to replace everything more often.Think most growers have had to use a grow lush Lamp before and I will agree they are definitely not the best. Naycha was right in saying to at least get a better lamp if you do buy the growlush ballast.A couple of better HPS lamps are Phillips Son-T and Lucagrow they cost around double the price of a GrowLush Lampand throw out more lumens for a higher yield of buds.
Ferrethead
I've got a Lumatek digital ballast. Only been growing for 4-5 months so can't really comment on their quality....still works so far. One thing I can say is, on my first grow I was knocking back to 400W during the day in Summer then back to 600W at night as I was growing autos and it worked a treat. Now it's getting a little cooler, and I'm growing photos I just leave it at 600 with lights on at night. Probably wont use the digital feature again until summer. Hopefully I've got enough stockpiled by the to not grow in the extreme heat. I tend to shop around and pay cash so I can say this without fear of being stung. H2growhydroponics in Ipswich is one of the best places I've been, but I don't grow hydro, I'm a coco man.
CannabisKangaroo
info on the bulbs taken aboard and have checked them out. i have also been looking at other fourums for ballast info and the solis tek ballasts seem to have a few thumbs up, so i might look at one of those. i havent bought anything other than a hygrometer yet, wanted to make sure i've selected decent brands so i can get a good couple grows under my belt before i need to replace anything. dose anyone know where i can find the indoor elements grow tents? any vented hoods worth mentioning? thanks for the replys

Ive just bought a Son-T-agro bulb, Ill try that in the sunny see if it goes, if so then Ill have an extra ballast to play with, but Im not getting my hopes up. Buying quality at the start will hurt a bit more thats for sure, you might be really fed up with noodles before its over, but the extra $$ you spend now on decent equiptment will mean no much more to you later, esp at harvest time
