Buds Losing Their Smell ?

Recommended Posts

Hi.

Ive just harvested the top half of my plant.

When the buds were still on the plant they had this nice sweet smell to them.

Its been 5 days since ive started drying them and it seems everday as they get a little dryer that sweet smell they once had is disappearing :D

If i squeeze the buds i can still smell that sweet smell, but just putting it under my noise i dont get that sweet smell anymore ?

why is this, and how to i keep the nice sweet smell to them.

ive bought dried buds many times that still have their sweet smell, so im just wondering why mine dont keep theirs ?

thanks Jason :D

One of my Klozits is a real heat generator due to the low ceiling so I run LOTS of ventillation 24/7. I definitely noticed that the plants flowered in that cabinet have less smell than others I grow elsewhere. While a plant is growing, it it constantly producing essential oils and other liquids that contain the scent. Once it is cut, dried and dead, there is a finite amount of these oils and liquids left. As they evaporate, they go away not to be replaced. In my case, my ventillation is so high, that even while the plant is alive I am evaporating off many of these scents and carrying them away faster than they are created. While the aromas and flavors are wonderful, they don't contribute to potency or chemical composition in any meaningful manner that I have been able to find. My med patients don't really care if the stuff smells like manure as long as it does the job, :P.

Usually, good curing will re-concentrate many of the aromas and flavors.
