Trimming lower branches and flowering questions

Recommended Posts

Thanks one and all for your advice and tips. My situation is that I have a limited time to get the harvest dried and stored. As I've said, this is my first crop that I'll be harvesting, and all the info in this post is valuable to me.

The use of a dehydrator in the long term is not my plan, I just needed some help to get out of a tight spot without f*cking up my prized first attempt...!

Any other comments and experiences shared will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Again

It's been 5 weeks since I changed my lighting to a 'flowering' regime, and some of the stigmas on my plants have started to change to a darker colour. I have 2 questions:

1. There are quite a few flowering branches that aren't as advanced as the others - do I let them keep growing after I've removed the 'matured' branches?

AND

2. A lot of the lower/lowest branches are loosing their leaves - is this normal? And, should I remove them?

Thanks

A lot of growers lollipop their plants .... Lollipopping is removing under-growth that receives very little light so that the plant can focus more on producing fruitful top cola's .....

Although its not wise ... i generally leave the lower branches that recieve little light on the plant .... if the plant has any nutrient requirements during early-mid bloom that i have not provided them then the plant will first re-locate nutrients from the branches/foliage that would be removed if you were to lollipop the plants ... If you are interested in keeping any of the flowering females as mothers because one or two specimens are grand ..... then lower branches can come in handy when you are to re-veg those plants ......

There is no point flowering the smaller lower branches of the plant that are not keen to flower after you harvest the cola's of nug's .... the bang-for-buck yield to lighting/overhead costs ratio is dismal ....

peace n pot,
