So........Here's a link thru that hacktivism site: Weblinks for Electronic Civil Disobedience Have a look, see what you guys think. I know who'd be getting the first round from me MU-hahahaha.................. :D (drug free australia).

I'll do a little research on an anonymous e-mailer, if anyone knows of any good links that might help out, feel free. They'll be nothing abusive in them, just some facts about MJ, and prohibition etc......but lots of them.

These prohibitionists can get very rabid when they want. Also I would suggest that e-mails don't contain defamation or threats that can be legally followed through. Reasoned arguments beat abuse hands down.
Totally true Brash ;)

Activism on the internet.........sweeeet, straight from your comfy chair at home ::D: :D

Um, yeah - be polite guys.

Spamming people on a massive scale is quite rude though, I wouldn't recommend this and you'll find some fairly angry System Administrators on the receiving end if you do it seriously. Extreme cases might even result in legal action, or your Internet account being cancelled.

MDR is not someone you want to start provoking just for the fun of it, though it is exceptional fun I have to admit. Use logical, reasoned points - but I don't see the point in just harassing him with a barrage of email. I'd try to enter a dialogue about his website Drug Free Australia, and maybe subscribe yourself to the drugtalk mailing list (though MDR has been quiet for a few weeks now, he's sure to be lurking).

Alternatively, contacting your local Government representative and sending Letters to The Editor (LTEs) to your local/State newspapers is one of the most productive and efficient activities you can take part in. Similar efforts in the USA and Canada have blown open a gaping hole to promote reform and organise politically, as well as educate the public and influence public opinion. I'd much rather my opinion was out in the public eye, potentially reaching hundreds of thousands of readers, than a single, misguided and ignorant prohibitionist who has no real influence in the real world.

The public already supports reform, we already enjoy a majority in most parts of Australia. What we need to do is increase our lead, increase public support to the 70-80% mark. Our Political leaders will be the last to follow, they are the long-term goal - widespread, public support is the only way we'll get there.

Hey Guys, Hey Rob ....

You make some excellent points Rob regarding the amount of NOISE Activists make out in the Public Areana, anywhere in the World :D .

I am a top Activist from Canada who wants to help you guys get organzed to do something like this. We have been repeating this kind of behavior and emailing - FLOODING - our local and Federal Politicians for the last few years at every level all across our Country. THAT is how we got to where we are now.

The only way to be heard in this community is to speak up.

If you truly want to make a difference, I KNOW you can get people organized. It i s matter of setting it up. Put out feelers and see how many people respond. I will write to your Goverement . I can ask Activist all over Canada to do this to help you. Ultimately it will help us all.....

There is alot we can do GLOBALLY to stop this War on Drugs.

Let's do it together :D

Love and a Squish,

There is a big difference between flooding pollies and the media with emails as in getting a lot of people to send them emails with links and reasoned arguments all the time as opposed to flooding them with a bulk emailer which I think is stupid and counter productive.

And as Brash has said, you'll probably get a better success rate by taking the trouble to send a written from time to time.

as an individual I get totally fed up with SPAM that comes into my email box so I would encourage everyone not to consider mass mailings but rather the more personal letter approach that has been suggested.

For those activists that are considering using a mass mailing program you may want to check out the new anti-spamming laws that come into effect on 10th April this year.

As a Sys Admin I deplore mass mailings. They are a royal pain in the ass that really don't annoy the reciepient as much as the guy that looks after the mail system. I can spend from one hour each day going through 'From' addresses and word filters attempting to stop spam at our gateway before the reciepient gets the email.

Remember also that many pollies and executives in large companies aren't usually the first person to read their email. It is often either their PA or some other lackey that screens and categorises the emails before the target reciepient recieves them.

Yup, mass mailing is a pain in the ass, so I can see, especially from what alison has said, it could be ONE of the options to get some attention.

Pipeman, sending e-mail with links in it is what the whole bulk email thing is about, as well as it being anonymous. I can just imagine people wanting to send normal e-mail, then having it traced back :D Good idea...........This is exactly what rob was talking about, you compose your emails, and away you go, ANONYMOUSLY.

And as Brash has said, you'll probably get a better success rate by taking the trouble to send a written from time to time
How many letters do people have to write before they're noticed? Really.......I think writing as well as e-mailing would be a good idea. But I'm with alison, it's the noise caused that'll make people sit up and pay attention.
I'd much rather my opinion was out in the public eye, potentially reaching hundreds of thousands of readers, than a single, misguided and ignorant prohibitionist who has no real influence in the real world
::D: You don't have an awful lot to lose, most of our members here do. At least there is a way that our people can unite and put there feelings and thoughts about prohibition out there, without fear of being prosecuted for MJ use. You also know most of our members grow, and wouldn't in a million years consider 'putting thier opinion out in the public eye'. Bit moot here really......... :D

But it's all down to the individual, what they want to participate in, and how they want to do it. If this is one way to go, then as long as it's fully checked out and set-up properly, then I say lets go ;)

Mass mail goes to /dev/null [the void] so forget about it. Dont fuck things up by bombarding people with your views - its better to speak to 50 people once than it is to speak 1 person 50 times.

It took one person to introduce me to marijuana and hundreds have tried to introduce me to Jesus. :P

It's not about my veiws in paticular, but a good many peoples'. But anyway, the idea is up there, and from what I can see, not that many would be interested in it. The whole idea was meant to be a peaceful protest really, but......Thanks for the idea Rob, it's still an interesting idea that could be saved for a rainy day ::P:
