lifestylez
I had pretty good results from Yates Potting Mix (with dynamic lifter)...it was about $10 a bag from bunnings. I add about 20% perlite to make it drain a bit better (also available from bunnings). Stay awy from the cheap brand name potting mixes, they are crap and it's difficult to get seedlings started in them in my experience. Danatron1987
Thanks Vostok.Although I am looking for better quality than bunnings soil.I have used their expensive premium potting mix in the past and have had several seedlings stunt and die. lifestylez
Your other option then is to get organic garden mix from a landscaping supply place. You might be able to get it bagged up, but usually you need to order a minimum 1/2 cubic meter which is actually quite a lot of soil and have it delivered. And they dump it on your front lawn where you need to move it yourself. Bunnings do sell good quality potting mix, just don't buy the bunnings branded stuff. If your seedlings don't take off in Yates premium then you might be doing something else wrong.
Frank Reynolds
Thanks Vostok.Although I am looking for better quality than bunnings soil.I have used their expensive premium potting mix in the past and have had several seedlings stunt and die. Mate your problem is using potting mix to start seedlings, you want a top quality seed raising mix with no added nutrients.
Naycha
Searles Premium is one of the more acceptable brands of potting mix although it varies and sometimes contains a lot of bark. A decent nursery or landscape supply will have a few options and will let you bring a bag and fill it up yourself. You may want to start them in a decent seed raising mix. VOSTOK
See... the problem here ain't the BARK that does suck valuable Nitrogen from the plant, that comes in the soil mix, the real problem is all those heavy metals that are mixed in with the so-called soil. most if not all potting mixes you buy these days come from a mix of sewage farm (shit) and community utility grasses from parks etc, these 2 basic mixs are mixed and allowed to rot, a quick test by a budget conscious lab for lethal bacteria, then bagged then flipped to you, who then grow and smoke it..... The deal here ...is the shit comes from humans, who just love DRUGS, I mean those heavy weight ones, like estrogen, for birth control, is a hormone, I'm outta my depth here, but I'm sure you get my drift, the question is weather cannabis sucks up those heavy weight man made metallic drugs and to what degree it may have on us.....go organic! Sorry for my bad english "V"
