I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg and there are many more doing the same at the Brisbane airport international . People have been correct in their assumptions that mail has been stolen either by dodgy baggage handlers or dodgy customs. Anyway, in Queensland trust no one as the whole system is corrupt from top to bottom.

Thought it needed it's own post....

A Qantas baggage handler allegedly stole hundreds of pieces of mail containing cash, gift cards and cheques while working in Brisbane's domestic airport terminal.

An investigation was triggered last year after Australia Post, faced with a slew of complaints about undelivered mail, traced the missing correspondence back to the Brisbane Airport.

The Australian Federal Police began investigating in December.

During its investigation the Joint Airport Investigation Team from the AFP allegedly identified their suspect making purchases at a camping store using six gift cards which had gone missing.

After a series of dawn raids in Brisbane's north on Wednesday authorities arrested 40-year-old Qantas baggage handler Dale Rogers.

Police will allege he stole at least 380 pieces of mail when he was shifting cargo within Brisbane's domestic airport terminal.

The mail includes Christmas and birthday presents, credit cards, cheques and mail from banks.

In their raids authorities allegedly found bundles of mail in the man's car and in the Brisbane suburb of Kurwongbah.

The man was charged with nine counts of theft of mail from Australia Post and one count of stealing as a servant.

He has been granted bail and will appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 15.

Most of the mail which went missing was bound for locations in Australia.
