Rooting booster price comparisons

Recommended Posts

So i was doing a bit of research tonight on different rooting formulas and decided to work out what rooting formulas work out the cheapest per litre of end solution that you make.

When picking products bottle size i will pick a product that will make as close to 1000L of solution as i can, this will keep the comparisons as close together as possible.

The products we will be comparing and recommended dosages are as follows

Canna - Rhizotonic - 1ml per litre

H&G - Rooting Excelurator - 0.33 ml per litre

CX hydroponics- Regen-a-root - 1ml per litre

Seasol - 3ml to 5ml per litre - this figure is based off what users of this forum are using - i will be using the minimum of 3ml per litre for this comparison.

Great White Mycorrhizal Beneficial Bacteria - 0.1315g per litre (only needs to be used every second week)

Rock Supercharge - 1ml per litre

Great White Mycorrhizal Beneficial Bacteria - 1ml per litre

All prices are off the cheapest product i could find on ebay, are current as of the time this post was made and do not including shipping costs.

7th place - H&G - Rooting Excelurator - 10.1 cents per litre of solution

6th place - Canna - Rhizotonic - 6.3 cents per litre of solution

5th place - Seasol - 4.2 cents per litre of solution

4th place - Rock supercharge - 4 cents per litre of solution

3rd place - Symbiot rhizo symbiont - 3.9 cents per litre of solution

2nd place - Great White Mycorrhizal Beneficial Bacteria - 3.13c per litre of solution *1*

1st place - CX hydroponics - Regen-a-root - 2.2 cents per litre of solution

*1* Greatwhite price takes into account that it is recommended you only use every second res change, otherwise it would be 6.26c per litre

These cents per litre totals are how much it will cost you to make litre of solution your going to pour onto your plants/put into your tank, this is not to be confused with how much each costs per litre/ml as that number really does not help anyone out in determining what is the most cost effective product to use.

And the winner is... CX Hyrdropnics - Regen-a-root

It should also be noted that:

  1. I make no claims that these products are identical when using them at these dilution rates.

  2. It might just happen to be that one of these products performs a lot better than the rest which would give you a better bang for your buck - this is not taken into account in this comparison

  3. If anyone has any other products they wish me to add to the list (even if its not going to take the winning position) please just ask and ill edit this post and update the results.

  4. I am very open to any constructive criticism anyone has about this comparison and will even edit it if someone can show the results are in anyway incorrect

  5. You would obviously get different results buying different sized containers, i used the closest sized bottle to one litre i could find for this comparison as i personally thought that to be fair

  6. I have no ties with any of these companies.

  7. Currently i do not have a favorite product that i personally think gives the best results - i do however encourage active conversation about this.

Rhizotonic Sewead based root conditioner / plant tonic

Seasol same as rhizotonic

Rock Supercharge is an unknown entity to unless you can enlighten us...

gh rooting excelerator is an enzyme product similar to biobugs, canazyme etc..

Cx hydroponics regenaroot another enzyme product

Great White Mycorrhizal Beneficial Bacteria is as it sais a beneficial bacteria

Symbiot rhizo symbiont More beneficial bacteria

I dont know what to say realy other than your comparing aples, oranges and kiwifruit.

FWIW I use seasol at 1mpl the same rate as rhizotonic and would bet on them being very sililar in strength . Only one is 70$ a liter and the other 10$

Anyway this is your can of worms bro. You can have it back :D

Cheers

Proganics root excel which is sold through Brummings is $20 for 1 litre and that makes 1000L of solution (1ml/l).

You can add that if you want to.

Saw this the other day. Looked into it further and its made by a company called 'Pascoes'. Unfortunatly it looks as if they dont make it anymore - this from their website Notice for Consumers: This range has been discontinued. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Maybe the stuff at Bunnings is just whatever they have left in stock??

After some good chats with the regulars we have basically come to the agreement that while this thread is an interesting topic it really needs major overhauling :) basically i opened a big can of worm with this. I will certainly see this through and will take on board all the constructive critism given to me in this thread and on chat. You guys know who you are, thanks for the guidance ! Edited by Bento

yeah that one and all i copped was crap because - they are different products - no shit same as this thread but read the labels - they all promote better roots and growth. I got some suprising results but why share when all i got was crap, i havent been back to this site since, and what do i find when i do return, a bloke trying to find out pretty much the same shit i was trying to get, and all he cops is shit from everyone because they are different base products, which happen to be marketed to people seeking the same thing from there plants, better roots and stronger lusher growth. So yeah i praise his effort but it will be in vain cause off all the wingers and know it alls on here, were a bunch of stoners not fuckin scientists, i say ley him do his experiment in peace, shut up and listen to what he has to say, some people might learn a thing or 2. Bento has accepted constructive (and non constructive) criticism with grace and dignity. Despite of the flaws that have been pointed out this thread is far from an effort in vain.

If we all shut up and only listened what a piss poor place this would be.

Good on you Bento for having the dignity and grace to accept constructive criticism and being big enough to ignore the plain criticism. Some members could learn from that which of itself makes this thread useful.

Naycha :peace:
