Greenhouse Ventilation

Recommended Posts

Hey nibbler, thats some interesting information thanks :)

I have grown in that exact same location successfully in the past and grown good dense big collared bud without a greenhouse - i had a different neighbour at that point in time however who actually rather enjoyed his aircon pulling in the smell of the plants while his wife was none the wiser.

Do you think if i were to constantly be sucking in air into the at a high enough rate i could keep the humidity in check ? Summers in perth are usually quite dry, so my thinking is that if i can pull enough air into the greenhouse i might be able to keep the humidity in check. Humidity has definitely been a concern so i chose a mould resistant strain to play it on the safe side.

Definitely given me some food for thought, its good to hear from someone who has done greenhouse growing in the past thanks heaps :)

Im sort of tempted to hook up my evap house aircon to the greenhouse to help with the temperature control - by just running a smaller tube to the greenhouse, that said hash nibbler has me thinking without some serious climate control i might have missed the ball this year. This would be a last ditch sorta desperate effort to help curve temp control if it was an issue and i wouldnt do it strait off the bat. Edited by Bento

If the greenhouse was an equally sized growroom i would be changing the air about 25 times an hour, so then i would need something around 270 CFM which would be a lot more cheaper and quieter - however i have not been able to find any information that supports that 25 times an hour in a outdoor green house is sufficient enough to deal with the heat of a west australian summer.

I would really like to hear from someone who has had first hand experience venting a greenhouse.

You rang?

Hey bento,

I have to ask, regardless of the list of 10 rather flimsy reasons as to why you cant grow inside ..... why grow outdoors? lol. setting up an air cond is going to mean electricity use buddy ..... smelly buds are going to mean nosey neighbours can identify potentially suspicious odours .... you out of your mind?

all the best, peace n pot.

Heya Bentos =) , I grew on the west coast near Perth in greenhouse.... lol . If ya have enough airflow on ya greenhouse it can be done. And if ya get good buds growin in same spot, then should be no different in greenhouse.

Humidity in a greenhouse and outside are a world apart....

Mate , dont hook ya Evap up to ya greenhouse, it will increase the humidity as Evaps use water to cool the air, so these water particles are added to whatever humidity is in the greenhouse, compounds the problem. Air flow is the secret to keeping temps and Humidity down.

Goodluck, leave it till next year mate, get it all set up, run some trials, then ya know next year that it will crank, and you'll be ready.

Peace. Nibbler.

Ok i wont hook the evap up, point taken nibbler :P

@Ind00r - they were not reasons for wanting to go outdoors over going indoors, they were reasons for wanting to grow in a greenhouse vs open air - growing indoors is an impossibility at this time, maybe in a couple years things will be different

Anyway, thanks for all the info guys ! However the original question really has not been answered - how many times an hour do you guys think i should exchange the air inside the greenhouse to deal with heat and humidity ? At the moment i am going to shoot for somewhere between 50 and 60 times a min
