hey Smoker.

Ozone generators are the most effective way of dealing with odor since they actually destroy the odors, not merely filter or hide them. BUT....

They are difficult to use correctly and incorrect use can be dangerous not only to plants, but to humans too.

Ozone is an unstable molecule, O3. The extra atom of oxygen tries to attatch itself to anything passing by. Oxygen is a very strong "oxidizer" and burns up many atoms that it attatches to, thus destroying the odor completely. Lightning also creates ozone and this is why the air smells so clean after a thunderstorm. But this is also why ozone can be dangerous. It will corrode sensitive tissue like in the lungs. There is a fine line between enough to be effective and too much so as to be harmful.

The best and safest way to completely rid yourself of odors (even works with drug dogs) is to first carbon filter your air, then have it pass through a high powered ozone generator to be directly vented outdoors where any excess will do no harm to people or plants.

Best

ozone also as another thread on them here says,

carbon does not clean the air in the grow area, It only cleans the air that passes through it via your exhaust.

Im going to try a grow with nothing to stop the smell, but I think if its too bad I will use a combintion of weak ozone and carbon filtering.

They are best used in a secondary space. If you are venting through the roof then attic space is ideal. Since the exhaust sends air out of your grow space into the attic without a return flow there is no danger from the ozone and it really does kill all odours. The real concern is detection. Electricians have to use those attic crawl spaces to mend wiring so don't forget to remove the ozone generator before they arrive. Like I didn't. Luckily the sparky was really cool and not averse to good quality hydro but chances are you could get busted. Its no use having state of the art camouflage with fake walls, cupboards or flooring and then leaving your air purifier machine sitting beside the ceiling trapdoor for any wally to find.

:P :D

I've got one on my own roof. Height is always good but thick resony buds can really stink. Anyone who knows that smell and is standing downwind of your house is going to suss you out. Then you are fucked. I wouldn't take the risk. When your plants are in full bloom you have enough paranoia to contend with even if your plants odour is taken care of. That and light seeping out in the middle of the night are the dead give aways.
