Light Timers for HPS

Hi all been using a hpm timer for my hps and now its started to forget when to turn off.Stayed on for 2 1/2 hours longer than it should have for my bloom room hope it dosent stress them

any one have any advise on a good timer to run with a 400w hps

JBL digital timers. Very reliable and have a 30 amp relay.

Any timer rated heavy duty will do the trick.

Hpm really suck. I wouldn't even use one for a pump these days.

bunnings have heavy duty ones?or are they all chinese crap?

I use HPM heavy duty one, The one rated to start pool pumps etc, It is only rated to 10 amp, like most of em, but its the contact points that are better and mines run for a year, pretty much non-stop. I had heard someone had one of these fail, but you rarely hear it compared to other ones. I started up 2 x 600's and a 400 and fans all together with a draw very close to 10 amp.....didnt even bother it, it did that for 4-5 months day in, day out.

Can get em at Bummings, think they like $15.

Look for something heavy duty that says its suitable for pool pumps ,air-conditioning etc.

Nothing worse than the timer relay fusing on in the middle of 12/12 and your lights staying on for a couple of days before you notice.

 

Edit ...took so long to do my post just doubled up on half what nibbler said..bloody distractions..

~old thread but....I have had 2 hpm heavy-duty timers fail within one month   It is a pain in the arse.  if I can't find a Jbl heavy duty, I hope a new hpm hd one will work
