What cfl to use

Recommended Posts

Just started building a little veg cupboard today and want to order a light.

its 900w x 900L x 800H just painted it white today and put some holes in the back to run a intake and exhaust fan.

So i was thinking 1 decent CFL

http://www.ebay.com....=item1c13cfd73d

on there page it says for flowering stage but i thought 14000k lights where all blue

So I wanna start Autos in the cupboard then flower em outside.

If any 1 has and suggestions on other lights and where i can purchase them from would be great. Not to sure if 250watt is overkill

Little bit confused about the whole 14000k 6400k, i know 2700k is for flower.

would i be better off with 130 watt 14000k and a 130watt 6400k?

Heya Fudge =), mate those are weird dimensions.....sure they are right? 900mm x 900mm base and 800mm height?

Anyway if it is, theres not much height.

For CFL's Frazz in on the money, Phillips 80W CFL, has more bang for the buck than the 130w growlight cfl cheapies..... has more lumen output too.

It is a bluer spectrum, but I have seen a small cupboard grow done with one for flower on 12/12, and I gotta say was quiet impressed. But like MH, they flower plants well with a bluer spectrum.

I use 2 in a cupboard floor area is 500mm x 900mm and height is 1.8m..... but if theres no mums in there, I turn one off just for clones and small plants.

2 x 80W CFL's will light that cupboard up enough to keep mums healthy and bushy.

Like JK says, ya can use a 250 HID, but you'll need a centri fan, and a cooltube.

The CFL's, you can get away with a 125-150mm inline fan and carbon filter (I suggest 250mm x 500mm filter-so large area for air to move easily) as they dont produce much heat.......... use more than 2 though, i would get the better fan.....just in case........

One of those 80wers pumps out 5300 lumens..... which is a shit tonne for an 80w CFL globe. Lasts 10,000 hours and thats just till the output falters... lol

Buy quality globes, they never let ya down. Peace. Nibbler.

nib where do i find these phillips 80watt cfl's btw im in brisbane

Yeah the cupboard is only short in hight. Atm im pretty strapped for cash untill i sell my car thats why i havn't brought my $1000+ dream setup.

So my master plan atm is to have this little cupboard with CFL's to start auto's in coco so they get a really good start in life then put them out on my balcony to finish them in the intense qld sun. Gets around 8 hrs of direct sunlight and they days are getting heaps long. ive started some already just outdoors and them seem to be enjoying the sun but i think my output would be allot higher with a little veg cupboard to get em cranking first.

I know pictures say a thousand words so hope this helpes, im yet to install the top fan because i want to run the leads for the lights befor i install it.

Im leaning towards 2 X 130w 6400k indoor elements

Mostly because its easy to find and order, been looking around the net for 80 watt phillips and coming up with jack shit.

this sounds like something i want to set up so let me get this right ...

can those 80w phillips be used for vegging and flowering by following the light cycle or i'd have to change globes?

and if so then what globe to change to?

Heya SJ =) , mate Wietlover used em to great effect in a small cupboard flowering, same globes, just switch em to 12/12.

I hang mine vertcally on chains, but the shades are pretty sweet.......they got good penetration and coverage.

They are here for $99 including the reflector or $69 just for the globe...reflector has the lead as well, which you'll need.

Sure someone had a link somewhere to globe only for 50 bucks...but cant find it.

Dont buy the shit 130w ones....these will last heaps longer and give a better result. I've used both , the philips shits on them.

peace. Nibbler.
