temporary potting of clones

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Just seeking some advice/opinions on temporary potting of clones. I have had a bit of a search but cant seem to find any info to answer my questions

my current method is to cut clones just before flower cycle which means they sit around for 8 weeks prior to being put in pots. After a couple of weeks, they have all they roots coming out of the bottom of the rockwool blocks, which means the roots are all exposed for a while. Although I have never had any problems with this I am wondering if there is room for improvement.

would there be any benefit in putting the clones into small pots after roots start to show (does this exposure damage roots?), then repotting into the large pots when needed. If I did this should I still leave them under the clone light (just a cool white flouro tube), and on 24 hr light as is my current practice. I grow in coco and would have coco in the small pots

BTW anyone know why 24 hr light seems to be the practice - does this stop them growing (which we dont want at this stage) or is 18/6 better? If I pot and go 18/6 will I get a headstart on my grow (maybe under a stronger light) ?
