Consciousness Is Not In The Brain?

Recommended Posts

A split brain isn't so bad. You do stop dreaming though. The real you is the dominant or left hemisphere brain in most people. The side controlling speech, math, logic etc. All the artsy stuff is predominantly in the right hemisphere. This includes dreams. After the membrane is sashimied there is no more messaging between the two brains. So you don't know what your other brain is dreaming at night.

In WW2 many split brain patients were used as super spies. They would be sat down and told all sorts of secrets. But only in the right ear which goes directly to the right hemisphere brain. A whirring noise would be played into the left ear to drown out what the right ear was hearing.

Even when captured and under torture the spy would be unable to reveal any of that information. He didn't know anything. Not until you put a pen in his left hand and asked the questions. The left hemiphere controls the right side of the body and the right hemisphere controls the left side of the body. So the right hemisphere which couldn't talk could still write with the left hand.

Imagine watching your own left hand write answers to questions you don't know the answers to.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Sure it does. More connection between the two hemispheres means a more balanced rounder personality. We have more access to the imaginative emotional right hemisphere. Thats why we are always crying and get carried away sometimes. Our imagination gets the better of us. Men on the other hand are emotionally retarded by comparison and can't even carry a conversation on the phone while vacuuming. :x

I think its pretty bad personally, ive seen a documentry about it and i personally think it would be pretty aweful being in constant war with yourself? These people quite litterally fight theirselves physically all day every day. Id prefer to be dead, atleast thats peaceful.

Btw mjs ur comments come across pretty sexist.

It's my understanding that men and women, when exposed to the same stimulus, have the same emotional response to said stimuli. That point that tears are produced occurs sooner in women than it does men, ie there is sexual dimorphism in the threshold for tear production. So a man and women can be feeling equally upset about the same thing, but the women cries and the man doesn't.

Re multi-tasking, I fear you're perpetuating an incorrect gender stereotype. Sure some people can multi-task, men or women, but will they be doing either task as well simultaneously compared to individually ? I doubt it.

I'll be happy when the left and right hemishperes of my brain sort their shit out together and allow me the power to move objects via mind control, or even make people's heads explode like in the movie Scanners :yahoo:

I don't make this stuff up out of boredom.

First Concrete Evidence That Women Are Better Multitaskers Than Men

http://www.scienceda...00719083042.htm

Professor Keith Laws at the University's School of Psychology looked at multitasking in 50 male and 50 female undergraduates and found that although the sexes performed equally when they multitasked on simple maths and map reading tasks, women far excelled men when it came to planning how to search for a lost key, with 70 per cent of women performing better than their average male counterparts.

9 Differences Between the Male and Female Brain

http://www.brainfitn...d-female-brain/

Brain hemispheres: Many men are sharply left-brain dominant, while women tend to be more evenly balanced between left and right-brain processing. Women are therefore thought to be slightly more intuitive, and sometimes better communicators. Men are often less socially adept, and are more task-oriented thinkers than females.

Its not hell at all. I know friends who have had the operation. The dominant hemisphere takes time to learn new functions like complete control of the whole body. After a few months they are normal and don't have seizures again. Its not a war between hemispheres. Both grew up in the same body, have the same name and identical experiences right up until the separation. Its like two identical twins who have never been apart suddenly being seaparated. They don't hate each other. The right hemisphere has to adapt to a lesser role. It can't talk via the left hemisphere so I suppose it gets bored and plays up a little. So would you if you were locked away and could only observe the world. Maybe someone should invent a computer chip that allows the right hemisphere in such patients to talk. That would be interesting. You could have a real conversation with yourself without being crazy.

Is the above-mentioned "Concrete Evidence That Women Are Better Multitaskers Than Men" based on correlational or experimental research? It must be understood that correlational research proves nothing.

Nor is a study group of only 100 people statistically reliable what so ever.

As for mens emotions i strongly believe that culture plays a huge part in the suppression of mens outwards emotions, on the inside they are still very much emotional creatures. In fact its those sort of stereotypes (about men not being emotional) against men that perpetuate males suppression of their emotions.
