Dunno. They get more powerful every year. I've got an old one measuring 1.1m by 66cm. It pulls 12 watts. Fuck all. Cost a fucking fortune. I used it for charging a battery to watch a few hours of ABC on a small black and white TV. You can probably get a lot more power if you used a few household mirrors to steer more light onto your panel. But its a lot of fucking about. The panel will get hotter too. That might shorten its work life. Solar panels suck.

Solar panels and new LED tech could be viable tho. Particularly if using recent innovations like optic fibers.

 

I think it's got potential, but will take a while to become truly practical. We do need pioneers in this tho...
