Commercial LED grow

Recommended Posts

I have seen a well done comparison of a brand new led compared to a hps, and it got the same results but the watts used was the same. So for the extra dosh I don't think its worth it yet. And jot to mention they said they wernt clones of the same mum just the same seeds I thought they just wasted there time in the experiment

In my current setup it's grow without a high heat bulb, or don't grow at all for 4 mths of the year. Take your pick....

Dont grow at all would be my choice , i liver in similar geographical location and i would not even attempt to grow indoors over summer. 2 grows a year leave summer for relaxing nice and toasted .

I find it hard to find any successful / brag worthy grows diary's from leds ,on ozstoners or any forums for that matter . I dont think it is due to people not using leds i think it is because people use them and find they do not and will compete against HID .

I will keep a look out for your led diary , hopefully you can have good run with your led always interesting seeing peeps give leds a shot .

It would be good to see an led grow start to finish instead of half finished ones. Yeah the might not grow the volumes of hps but I have read the diaries that have finished have said the grows are quite potant. Yeah many people have been there but it can't hurt to give it a shot if ya got the means :)

Hi guys I will probably get heaps of shit but I did post some shots of my first grow with a 120w led (flowering) I since have done 3 all the same plants and have improved everytime. Next winter I am growing Swazi Safari from Flying dutchman. I will post the whole grow. The unit I have does well for 2 plants. I got 4 oz of buds dry and some kif and BHO budder so I am happy and the electricity bill is negligable. I agree HPS is better for light power output, but the led I have produces realy good buds full of resin so I will carry on with it. I cant afford the power bill of a HPS. So they work and the results are nice and worthwhile.

Did you do a HPS grow before trying LED's Tang? Just curious, seems most people who think LED are the shizz have never grown with a HPS............so how do you compare? I can compare by ya yield.........4oz from 2 plants........

Under a 400w HPS with 2 plants, that would of been at least 6- 8oz......... Just sayin.......

Peace. Nibbler.

Hi Nibler yes but it was 10 years ago and they were bigger, I have nothing but respect for the grows I have seen on this site. I will never be able to match them with my led, if I was after yield I would have to use a much larger led say 400w then I may as well use a HPS. I am currently finishing off an AK47 auto from vision seeds a freebie I got from bonza (one of 3). I dont know what it will taste like but its growing like a rocket. I started it off on 12/12 as it was shareing the tent with some other Tai Tanic plants that where finishing off, so for the first 3 weeks it was on 12/12 its now on 18/6. About 700mm tall and one huge cola. Going by the web site it has another 2 weeks to go? I think its what you would call a micro grow.

If I had had it on 18/6 or 20/4 from the start it would be bigger I am sure, I just wanted to see how they tasted. I think led is good for doing small things in small places at small running costs. But if you want big things in big or small places HPS all the way.

On another subject since I have been on this site reading the grow diaries ect I am addicted to this hobby and will suffer withdrawal over summer as I will not have anything growing except tomatoes I will feel so empty, more power to you all.

i dont see why people should winge bout power when growing ya own because its still alot cheaper than having to pay for it. those that worry bout power should stick with 250w hps . at the end of the day if those people using leds are happy with there smoko thats all that matters i guess :bonghit:

Hi oldman Im an oldman to, the company I got the led from is LEDPrincess google them they are in Singapore and deliver quickly, I am getting a larger 200 or 300 if I can afford it for next year. All the bullshit aside they work, not as good as 400w HPS but better than a 250watt hps and my 120w draws fuck all power and the buds are sticky and fat. As nibler pointed out he can get double the weight from HPS but I think that would have a lot to do with his skill in growing. I am getting more each grow, the last one I LST'd two plants and got two main colas per plant next grow will try for 4 per plant.I think keeping the canopy flat will allow me to get the light closer and cover more. I now just love the red light I use a 120w compact floro for vedging so my costs are very low. The carbon filters and tent allready cost enough as it is and I have never bought smoke since I came to Aussie 30 years ago so saving bucks on buying never came into it. The main thing is if it works and it does for me. i hope it works for anyone else who gives it a go.
