do hermies produce only female seeds?

Recommended Posts

No, not that I am aware of.

I still have yet to find correct info on hermies. What I think is correct and/or close to is that they will more than likley be female, but will turn hermie easily or will just hermie. All cannabis will hermie if they are stressed, its a survival mechanism. But once it has happened I think it has been tainted???

Alot of my bagseed hermied but some never, so I am unsure as to weather my bagseed was the result of a hermie or normal pollenation. I also had condition or problems at the time to trigger most of my hermaphradite plants.

now i have a bit more time i will expand on my answer..:)

several seasons ago i was growing plants that were slightly hermophradite..as they only hermied at the very end of the season so most of the last pick had seeds (but only a few seeds )

this was not bad.

i started growing hindu kush from HGS and picked one of the females to put with the hermophradite plant as an experiment to see if the seeds were infact all female.

I had read that this would produce all female seeds.

the end result was yes all seeds were infact female but all instantly self seeded at the start of the flowering season all heads were so full of seed it was a pain to deseed.

it was the first and last time i tried this ...:)

that is the full sum of my knowledge on the subject..

Thanks fellas. Did some more research, and it said to get female only seeds let a female plant bud in flower for too long and as a last shot it'll make balls to try to make some seed.

I called my friend I got the seeds off, and she said that she left it buc too long and it made seeds. But as mine weren't all female I'm thinking it was a straight out hermie. And as you said a hermie will make only hermie seeds; or females with a slight chance of hermie.

Now, that I treated them badly at the start, fluctuated the ph and soil then coco. That could have caused hermie too.

Hermie pollen doesnt mean you are certain to have hermie offspring ...... using pollen from a hermie plant that hermied due to stress/environmental issues will not produce a hermie bean, simply progeny that are also likely to hermie under same/similiar stresses..... keyword .... "likely" .... theres no certainties ... I've grown out beans that were fathered by a hermie...... and low and behold .... no hermies ....

if you want fem beans use colloidal silver ..... the ppm's of the colloidal solution have to be above 200..... making fem beans when youre growing sativas/indicas is simple ...... you take clones of the best plants a few weeks before flip to 12/12/ ....... after a week or a week and a half in bloom you cull the male clones or least favourable clones .... thus keeping decent mums as clones ..... you spray colloidal silver twice a day or so for a week, they pop nana's and you pollenate another few girls with the pollen and voila' ..... feminised beans ... this process is much easier if you have grown the genetics before and know what girls you are looking to keep...... because theyre not large plants that are producing pollen and only small plants it is easier to manage them, to seperate them and to paint pollen from......

This is definatly the way to go,, i have just done it and it is a piece of cake, just dont make the same mistake i did and leave the plant with the male flowers in the tent with your plants that you don't want seeded, i thought i was being very carefull, i had no fan in the tent so figured that the pollen wouldn't travel very far. WRONG!! the pollen travelled down the left side of the tent, it was sucked that way via the exhaust fan so i now have 3 large plants totally covered with seeds, at least i have enough feminised seeds to last for many many years, luckily it only got the plants in a direct line to the exhaust, there is only a small smattering of seeds on the other 6 plants (phew) but yea it works brilliantly.

Cheers
