what light 2 use ?

hi need some help my mate wants 2 know if he has a tent 0.9m x o.5m x 1.6m should use a 250w or 400w cooltube inside or outside? and will he need a duc n filter with such a small tent?any help thanks a heap p.s happy growing... Edited September 14, 2012 by ceaser

Either 250 or 400 would be fine but you will need ducting and a fan to keep the tent cool! And yes a filter is a must if smell is to be kept to a minimum

i personally would use a 400w because you could easily move to a larger area without having to get a new light but the 250w would be fine in that space its just if you want to go bigger later you will have to get a new light

Hi ceaser,

If your 'mate' can afford a few extra dollars on the ballast, he can get a dimable 400w digital ballast,

that will give him the flexibility of running 250w on same ballast and bulb.

If you put a 400wer in that size tent your going to need to use a cooltube, or without good ventilation, you will fry them. Especially with summer coming.

I'm with Nibbler...250 Watt is the most I would put in there and yes a cool tube is a must....400watts even with a cool tube in that size will be to hot and a waste of electricity.

The size you mention is the same as my grow fridge and 250 watts is perfect IMHO.

 

And the new 400/250 digital ballast is the way to go...Mag ballasts are not as efficient and they make a significant amount of noise.

I run a 400 watt cooltube and a 130 watt cfl in a heavly insulated wardrobe in a gareden shed average temps 37ish lots of fans good vent and things are looking ok ...............reveging under 12-1 for clones thread hope this helps

thanks all i think he will go 250w digi and the cooltube duc filter can some 1 please show me how they have there coolair inlet and there duc filter silencer cooltube riged so i can show me mate .............thanks again .....chooffff choooooffffffff i mean in what order suck or blow?

Theres a link in my signiture, you can do both ....as long as you use a good quality CENTRI fan and a decent sized filter...... both will give negative pressure in the grow area, which is what ya want......
