Using only perlite as a growing medium in a ebb & flo setup

He guy's & girl's is it possible to use just perlite as a growing medium in a ebb & flow system..

Growing medium's is the only thing that has me stuck at the moment..

I just can't figure out what to use and being in Australia i don't have a wide selection :-(...

And if i can do i need to use net pots or can i just fill my planting trays?

yes you can grow in perlite, I used reg pots inside another pot.

Hey smokey,

If your using ebb and flow trays aka flood and drain, perlite is not ideal because it floats,

Expanded clay is the norm, scoria or growstones is also good,

Perlite will work well for top feed systems...

Grow in coco man, its too easy but not in ebb n flow. You do have a good selection in Aus. Where do you think we all are, and you can get pretty much anything delivered to anywhere in Aus in 2012.

 

If you cant figure out what to use I suggest another way of growing too, well I did already I guess.

thanx for your suggestions guys i am gonna go with the hydroton clay balls.. I can get 50lt bags from a shop down in hervey bay for $39 and i am near there and thats the closest place other then 200km down the highway to the sunny coast ... And i thought about coco but i really want to do my first grow in ebb & flow for some reason i am hooked on that whole concept of growing ...
