License growers, sellers of cannabis: report

Why shouldn't growers be able to sell their product. why should it only be for the gov. to make money off.

 

because SOME irresponsible growers will sell / trade the psychoactive strains to anyone , young children, mentally unstable people, hot young underage girls etc ..

plus you would see some lacing their product with harmful substances .. sugar, flyspray, glass all sorts of things that may well present a health danger far greater than the Cannabis itself

and unflushed and possibly Cannabis sprayed with chemical insecticides ..

 

unless you have growers licensed to sell but this would be very hard to regulate quality control of teh product and also ensure Cannabis did not get into the hands of vulnerable people in the community

we must advocate very responsible licensing and use of Cannabis that cannot be faulted if we want some kind of legalisation

If people had a safe regualted sorce to buy their cannabis from most would...it's that simple.

My point, it would need quality control. If you want to grow n sell buy a license and pay taxes but like other consumables it needs quality check. If growing for personal use you would not need it, Like alcohol, you don't want a glass of ethanol...

If i am a wine enthusiast i can; grow grapes, make wine, then get a license and sell it at the local markets. not to kids, not with anti freeze in it.. Why not the same for canna. If i were a local consumer i would prob love to try boutique market buds over the comercial stuff.

sure puka i know that you would do the right thing re: growing/ selling weed, but the flaw i see in your proposal is that SOME growers would abuse their selling license and sooner or later bring Cannabis into disrepute in a shocking way

 

and when the press writes it up that a grower sold an ounce of African sativa to a ten year old child, who subsequently smoked it and whilst high pushed his little brother out of a four-story apartment window killing him instantly , the general public questions why are people allowed to sell their weed?

wasnt it enough that we granted them the right to cultivate for their own personel use? but the growers said ' No, we demand the right to sell also' ...

 

there is nothing i would love more than for we growers to be able to do exactly what you have proposed puka , i just think the very small minority of irresponsible people would somehow ruin it for the rest of us Cannabis enthusiasts

 

i really beleive one of our biggest hurdles in bringing legislation forward is the lack of a coherent, sensible and safe model for the legalisation / licensing of Cannabis .. one that 90% of people would agree with

I hear what you are saying Frazz, however, I believe you are using the same slippery slope falacy that is used to convince the public that cannabis is a gateway drug.

 

In a regulated market a sellar would be pretty dumb to sell to an underage individual, just as bottle shops don't sell to under age individuals. secondly, if a grower is using PGR's or fly spray, like you suggested, they would go out of business quick smart, because their product is inferior.

 

I certainly don't see the idea of small time producers selling at farmers markets any where in the near future, due to the stigma already associated with ganja, but there is no reason why once the general public accepts cannabis for what it is, there wouldn't be a market for small scale producers, just as there currently is with wine.

 

I agree with you 100% though, we need a model that the majority will accept, or it ill never happen. Therefore, my proposal is but a pipe dream, although 50 years from the end of prohibition, I dont see why not.

 

BTW, I personally would probably not sell my product, even if I could, simply because i am a mul pig and only share with my closest friends.
