Cloning Made Easy

Recommended Posts

Want %100 strike rate? Sick of watching your darlings shirvel up and die? Follow this simple stategy and cloning problems will be a thing of the past.

So first thing is choose a healthy mum of a good strain. During the day take cuttings from all over the plant. Be savage and take all but about the last %30 of the plant. I recommend this as the Mum will come back stronger and bushier than ever even after multiple (indefinate) cloning attacks. Do it during the day cycle as the plant's cuttings will take to root a lot faster. I've heard some growers only use the branch tips, but I use every healthy node avaliable. sometimes getting three, four or more clones from a single branch. A node is where the branch sprouts a shade leaf and a new branch. Cut the node directly above the branch and leaf of the next node.

Before you did all this you made the tap water Chlorine and nasties free by using a filter and letting the water sit for about an hour. About two litres will do about seventy clones. Put a small amount (1/2 teaspoon of the gel) of rooting hormone in the water. Don't stress about PH as long as it's around 6-7. As you cut the clones place the directly in a glass of the solution you made. An ideal clone has two biggish (2-3 centermeter) leaves with a few smaller leaves with a stem about 3 to 5 centermeters long. Too many leaves will place a strain for water and cause some of the leaves to die.

So get as many clones into the glass as you can without crowding them too much. About 4-6 in a dixie. Try not to submerge the leaves you want.

O.K arrange all the cuttings in their respective glasses under a cool blue light. After two to three days you can take the clones from their glasses and put them into Rockwool blocks. Or if you really want to be nice to the girls put them directly into Coco and pots. I do this and get fantastic growth in dixie cups. After only another 5 to seven days the first roots will appear out of all the cuttings. Any stressed clones would have died or shown strain in the first coupla of days so don't use them (%100 remember?) Don't worry about humidity bins as the cuttings have already started growing root nodes and will easily get enough water from their daily watering.

After putting the clones into Rockwool or Coco I start them on a very week solution with a tiny bit of Superthrive. You don't have to, waters fine for at least a fortnight.

Hope I helped. I just did 27 cuttings with 26 in Rockwool thriving four days later and only one day in the 'wool'. I expect 26 healthy clones in another six days and will get them without travesty or intervention. Oh the one died as the water evaporated and the stem couldn't reach it in the glass, something to watch :D . Oh well.
