pot shape

Hi everyone.

Just wondering does the shape of the growing container make any difference when growing in soil?

Say 110L rectangle container verses A 75L round garbage bin.

Yeh i suppose youd want to go for the garbage bin as it is taller, and will allow your plants roots to spread out deeper which is what it likes to do

the wider your container is the bigger your plant will get, cant remember the exact measurements but i think it is about after 2 foot the plants dont really get any bigger the deeper you go but the wider you go deff makes a massive difference.... this is based on clones and not plants from seed... the reasoning behind it is that clones dont have a tap root so they search outwards as apposed to down wards.

with all the above aside...

 

a square(d) container allows you to better utilise your grow space.

general principle ... if you let the roots grow and establish itself in your grow medium .... the larger the pot the bigger the plant / the better structure pf the plant ..... isnt always the case ... but more times than not ....
