Fan Help For Small Grow Tent

Recommended Posts

Hey peeps,

I just need help on choosing what intake and exhaust fan I need for my small grow tent.

My grow tent measures 0.9Mx0.5Mx1.6M with a 260Watt CFL lighting setup... I plan to grow 2-3 plants.

The tent also came with a 160mm clamp fan for circulation.

Can I just use a 120mm or 150mm ~200cfm computer fan for intake? And maybe a 200mm ~450cfm or ~250cfm inline fan for exhaust?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi diab welcome to OS. Pc fans are no good for moving air through ducting, use what you were thinking for an exhaust as your intake(100mm will be fine)and get a rs100 blower from can fan(also 100mm)or the like for your exhaust, you have the same tent as one of mine and three plants will be too much,i'd just grow one or two,two max though. cheers and good luck with the grow

Much appreciated KK!!

Yeah I thought the computer fan wouldn't do much... I guess they are really only for micro grows.

Are those can fans and inline fans relatively silent? Or should I invest in a muffler?

I will order those fans asap and hopefully get something going in the next couple of weeks... should be starting a grow journal as well here!

Cheers again.

Only being 100mm yes they are both fairly quiet,I wouldnt bother with the silencer but see what you think after you have it all set up and running then if your not happy with the noise level look into the silencer, acoustic ducting is another way to go,alot cheaper than a silencer too. Look into getting yourself a hps setup in there, cfl is fine but if you want a better yield you really need to think about hps, food for thought for the future anyway, cheers
