Help With First Time Growing.... ?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I’ve indulged in pot for over 10 years and finally got my own place to live. I want to produce my own buds, but have no idea where to start. Is there a prior post that can describe seeds, soil, lighting, and harvest information? If not, can someone explain where to start with hydroponics? Thank-you

Hey there High4Life, welcome to Oz Stoners. B)

Yeah, this place is a goldmine of info on growing, seedbanks, medical use, all kinds of information. Try having a look through the growing forums, and yeah, use the search function if there's a particular thing you're after and can't find it in the forums...

We also have a growing FAQ, check it out, there's a link in my Sig.

Take it easy mate, learn a bit before you jump in, but that said, the best teacher is experience. I'm sure you'll soon be growing yourself some lovely buds in no time. :P

WELCOME to OZstoners.com,

Well ... I started my first grow recently and i decided to go hydro since it the outdoor season was over. At the start of the year i didnt know anything about Hydroponic growing and if someone said "its hydro bud" the only thing that came into my mind was artificial light, but its more complicated than that. There are diffrent kinds of hydro setups (bubbler buckets, ebb & flow, NFT (nutrient film technique) etc etc etc. But the basics of hydro are artificial lighting, ventilation, nutrients & soil or soiless mediums.

this information should put a simple picture in your head :D

the basics of hydro are artificial lighting, ventilation, nutrients & soil or soiless mediums

Hydro-ponics - lit. "Water Work" Hydroponics is the method by which plants are grown either without any media, or with an inert/relatively inert medium, and the nutrients are supplied via a nutrient solution passed over the roots. Either constantly or periodically. The nutrient solution contains all the necessary base plant-ready chemicals required for plant growth. In a non-hydroponic system, the soil itself contains some nutrients, and some are supplied through the interaction of various soil biota, breaking down complex organic matter back to these plant-absorbable forms of nutrients.

It has nothing to do with lights. I've grown hydroponic crops outdoors, using the great nuclear HID in the sky as sole lighting source.

Most hydroponic cannabis is grown under artificial light sources yes, but it's not hydro. Would a plant in soil under an artificial light then be hydro? :D No, it's a soil grown plant. :)

Just thought I'd point that out. All my most humble opinion of course. :D
