Recommended Posts

week 2 flowering.

600W HPS

70/30 coco perlite

temp: 26-30

Humidity: 30-40%

Nutes: DM gold A+B, bud wise foliar spray

Ph: 5.7

average PPM: 1000

strain: primarily indica

just need to know what the problem.

started calmag applciation yesterday

This problem started 3 days ago as necrotic spots and progressed very quickly to the way it is now

had the same problem last flower, flushed yesterday and dosnt seem to help, so makes me think this strain is very hungry for calmag?

Attached photo is the problem

Thank for your help, any help appreciated

i have first hand experience with DM gold range and your exact medium ..... you need to drop back the ec .... 1000 every feed is to high ... would like to know other variables though ... how often do you feed them 1000pm ..... drop the ec down to 1.3 or 1.4 and feed water every second day ..... DM gold is fucking highly concentrated and it would be wise of you to cut the strength of the nutrients wayyyy back ... and water every 2nd or 3rd feeding ..... what made you decide on adding cal/Mg ?

cya mate,

*edit* - why are you using budwise ? ...... likely not necessary ...

Hi thanks for the interest, I feed three times a day about a litre a time, so 3l per day and flush once a week. I use this method as I like the idea of treating coco as a hydro medium moreso than treating it like soil. Umm the reason for cal/mag was I did a fair bit of searching around and troubleshooting and decided to go with a Cal/mag additive as it claimed to knock down all the problems I was seeing. A week ago I flushed and trimmed all the dead growth off my indicas and fed with half strength (about 650ppm) calmag for two days then stepped back upto full strength (1000ppm) and fed this to them 1.5l per day and 1.5l of DM. PH and PPMs all the same or within margins... Today my indicas look nice and lush green, a few little necrotic spots forming like last time so I'm thinking they liked the calmag, and was going to add it to 3/4 of the feeds.

The reason for budwise was a few grows ago I got a bunch of little pin prick size 'seeds' in nearly all my buds, and it tasted like shit haha. My local hydro shop told me budwise was a Female hormone spray designed to keep any hermies, male flowers and 'seeds' out of the harvest... So needless to say last grow I had the same problems, but I noticed them in week 4, applied budwise, and notably I can say the problem was easily half as bad this time so I'm hoping using budwise from day 1 of flower like directed, I can stop any Lil 'seeds'... If it doesn't work then sure as hell not wasting my money again haha

today my garden looks good, Pandora (sativa) is nice and bushy and tall, crystals have began to form on some of the leaves, smells very unique... Must say I'm supprised my sativa dominant strain showed trichs before my indica... Pandora looks to be a hungry plant, always the runoff ppm is about 400-600ppm lower, some lower leaves look like she needs more calmag...

I'll put pics up soon only day 17 now

Anything else, or any adjustments you might reccomend, Please and thanks in advance

Riddled with Fungus Gnats....Guarenteed.!

Treat straight away.

Coco tends to hog Potassium & Calcium.....So first thing you need to do is flush with lower strenght nutes, and at the same time put neem oil or NIlnat, or Gnat off in the feeding to kill the Gnat Lavae.

1.Check the accuracy of your P.H. Meter

2. Drop the Cal Mag, you have probably given too much and caused nutrient lock out.

3. flush with food and Gnat treatment heavily...Plenty of run off.

Magnesium def. & gnats give very similar symptoms in blotchy brown spots on leaves.

It's very easy to misdiagnose as an amateur.

Search this site for Gnats ETC there is a wealth of info here for all.

Hope it turns out ok for ya!

Magnesium deficiency isnt necrotic patches ..... magnesium deficiency will not display necrosis in a situation such as this one ... (research Mg deficiencies...) .... some good advice though buzzo ... cut the feed of water in half (only a ltr a day for now....) feed them salt-based nutes every 2nd feed ... with a water inbetween ... after you flush them with very dilute nutrient solution .... (use a LOT of water and keep the ph at 6.0 with a low ec.) .... as buzzo mentioned .... CalMg+ by gh is a decent product but you do not need to feed them cal/mg constantly ...... if your garden has a TONNE of hid lighting hanging over it .... you will only need to add extra cal/mg once a week at most .... most likely once a fortnight at that size of a plant .... also ... budwise is not necessary, i hope you havent been regularly feeding them the shit .... hydro stores are quick to oversell .... to make a sale ..... Coco hogs Magnesium .... not sure about the potassium .... (as mentioned above. ..) when a plant is sick ... dont prune back half-dead foliage in an instance such as this one ... leave them on .... pruning off the half-dead leaves might make the plant look healthy but its just a cosmetic fix ...... the plant can utilise stored nutrients in the foliage ... hope that helps bro ....

Keep it stony and keep any questions you may have rolling in,
