WASHINGTON: Scientists have developed a new drug which they claim can make you lose weight and keep it off for a longer period.

 

Researchers from National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism in the United States found that the new drug increases sensitivity to the hormone leptin, a natural appetite suppressant found in the body. The study was published in the journal Cell Metabolism.

 

"By sensitizing the body to naturally occurring leptin, the new drug could not only promote weight loss, but also help maintain it," senior study author George Kunos said.

 

Although leptin is an appetite suppressant, leptin supplements alone have not been effective at reducing body weight in humans. It's thought that this is because of desensitization to the hormone. Leptin is still there, but our bodies no longer respond to it.

 

While it is not entirely clear how this desensitization occurs, cannabinoid receptors , which mediate the feelings of hunger produced by marijuana and naturally occurring cannabinoids in the body, are thought to be involved . So blocking these receptors , rather than providing excess leptin, could be more effective for long-term weight loss.

 

In the study, Kunos tested a new compound, JD5037, that targets cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1R) without penetrating the brain.

 

JD5037 suppressed the appetite of obese mice, caused weight loss, and even improved metabolic health, in part by resensitising mice to the appetite-suppressing hormone leptin. Importantly, the mice did not show signs of anxiety or other behavioural side effects.

Thought this was of some interest. Sorry it is not medicinal "cannabis". But it is something medicinal that is related to cannabis...

Blocking canabanoid receptors- FUCK THAT !

How about we LEGALISE weed, cook and smoke to our heart content. With that, we'r all gunna be so happy they'd be renewed life in old limbs

and younger limbs get frisker so no need to worry there.

With all this jumping around, digging and growing there isnt going to be enough oportunity for Obesity.

 

its very interesting that canna is invovled in regulating our diet, recepts in the Liver for a reson.

Im not sure I liek the phrase "Intelligent design" too much but the closer I look at the intricities ya gotta wonder.

My liver has recepters for the main contituents of cannabis, and if I eat the seed of that plant I stay really healty ....

prolly just a coicindence ... And if I cook that plant in othe ways I can change my conscienciousness, think in new ways - EVLOVE
