grow lush 400W energy saver 3 Ballast + 400W hps grow room Questions

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I got my self a 400W grow lush energy saver ballast and 400W HPS light, to grow 1 plant in a spare toilet i have out the back. My main question is what does the dial on the ballast do when i turn it to the far left or far right? It makes some noise when i tested it. is this normal? I have a K-Train plant from green house seeds. its just a seedling and a few weeks old atm. Been growing it a combo of outdoors and under a normal fluro at night. 50% og kush and 50% Trainwreck. How young can you put a seedling under a HPS light? Growth seems very slow atm, i think its because of the cold weather.

Cheers for any help.

:)

Hey Josh,

There are far more experienced members who can answer this question but in the meantime I'll let ya know what I know (which is very little) :P ...From what I've read, heard, etc you can use an HPS from the minute you chuck your germinated seed in your medium. Young seedlings don't need that much light - a fluro will do, however you can use the HPS. I guess your only concern would be whether or not it will burn the plant. Just keep the HPS as high as you can at the start, the light (even from the top of the room) should be enough for the seedling and then obviously the usual rules apply once it's a proper plant - get it as close as possible without hurtin the plant.

I'm sure you'll get far better advice from other members and someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong.

Brownies. ^_^
