Google to assist catch drug smugglers, etc.

Sorry if i offended, its just not wise having someone who suggests he understands security online to tell people they have nothing to worry about ... theres no need for a false sense of security online .... we're speaking of privacy online, thats the discussion ...... .... people who have no understanding of security online should not give others advice on online privacy .... its fairly self-evident .... thats all i was suggesting ..... It's like a child who can only ride a bike with training wheels trying to tell schumacher how to drive a ferrari ... you might think you're doing ozstoners a favour but you're not .....

Because it's the internet.

What do you mean by "this site is supposed to be secure" anyway?

O k I will seek to educate you.

When you first log onto ozstoners web site you will notice a message notifying you that there will be a slight delay

while you are hooked up to the ssl gateway.

The SSL handshake is now complete and the session begins. The client and the server use the session keys to encrypt and decrypt the data they send to each other

You will also notice that the http on the address bar has a red line through it and usually a padlock beside it.this means your posts are secure

If this were not the case all messages and isp details could be read by third parties and could all appear on Google according to you.

If you dont see the https with red line and pad lock icon then the site is not secure.

Peace

If you take the time you will notice not all sections of the site require you to be a logged in member to view.

Aside from that you need to use your common sense. Anyone can become a member of Oz Stoners, thus anyone who joins can see your posts anyway.

Take care.

p.s for example there is no padlock when viewing this page.

this thread should be locked, too much malarkey.... half-truths and quick glances at wikipedia .... (or similiar) ... it has probably already run its course .... just read googles privacy/service agreements .... it's all in plain english.. they were updated 2 or 3 months ago .... if you are so very concerned about your security/privacy online purchase a decent pptp tunnel service with ssl in a country with fuck all cyber laws.... (a country that does not require ... by-law... for those running such services to maintain server-logs..... there are providers that dont keep server logs remaining out there...) too many 'experts' and too much discourse.... anyway... enough said.
