Seeds going missing - East Coast Aus.

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys and Girls,

Just thought I put this up as it might help a few people if they're wondering where their seed orders are.

Ok a little background. so I've had a few seed orders from different companies go missing once the get to Australia. I haven't received any notices and have used a couple different addys/names etc. with both companies having very good feedback.

I placed an order early last month, tracked it and in a couple of days it arrived in Australia but then it seemed to stop with the status stuck on "Accepted by facility". So I waited a couple of weeks but still nothing..... I contacted the seed bank and within 24hrs (after a couple of emails), they had shipped me a new order which I got a few days later. But what I found interesting is that the seedbank have said they have had a few reports of this. See below for their email they sent me -

Hi XXXX

We’re sorry to hear it - we’ve had a few similar occasions with orders to east coast Australia recently. Rather than any official involvement, it would appear that there is at least one dodgy postal operative who is stealing packages on a fairly regular basis. We’d love to contact the relevant authorities about our suspicions, but for obvious reasons it’s not a good idea for us to do so!

We can now either resend a duplicate of your order #XXXXX, or we can refund your order total. If you’d like us to resend, please can you confirm that the delivery address details we have for you are 100% correct –

Please let us know which option you’d prefer; we’ll wait to hear from you

Best wishes

So there you have it; if you're waiting for your seeds and haven't received a letter from the powers that be, maybe someone else is enjoying your order :D

Oh bugger. I'm hoping my order comes through ok then. I placed an order 2 weeks ago with Bonza.

I haven't been able to work out how to monitor the tracking in Oz though. The site seems to indicate that once it's left the UK I can't track it any further.

Well. Fingers crossed I guess.

Katt - If you go to the australia post webiste and enter the airsure tracking number there it should give you tracking details.

Devilspine - The orders I have received haven't had a return address only a County and area code. So it could be someone on the xray, or going by the size of the package and County, or it might be that they are just taking random letters/parcals that they think have money or goods in them????

Perhaps it's only the small items with airsure labels because they are trackable which may indicates valuables, but no delivery signiture is required.

considering the enormous volumes of mail entering Aust. on a daily basis, and the suspicions of the Seedbank that the post is being thieved

one would imagine the alleged stolen mail is going missing at a local sorting centre that feeds out to a local metropolis?

i mean they must have good reason to suspect this is a thief as opposed to Customs interception

:peace:
