mothers flowering on 24/7 light but why

Recommended Posts

30C at 5 in the morning?..... lol yeah right.... Mate I'm working in fucking Darwin at present and I can tell you it's far from 30C at 5 am

Have a look at the time of year, it's the middle of winter ffs

I'll say it once more, it is the dropping temps, going into winter, coupled with low lux levels from flourescent lighting, that is inducing flowering.

Anyone who has kept mother plants, under lights in a shed, long term, will tell you the same.

Plants don't need much of a trigger to flower, this is why I find the thought of autoflower strains somehow having an advantage over 'normal' cannabis an absolute wank :hooked: Noobies love the thought of autoflowers as a shortcut to growing.... lazy bastards. Sign of the times though I guess.

I've put Northern Lights clones rooted under 18hrs of flourescent light outdoors, in November, in Queensland, and smoked the buds at Christmas, there is NO NEED for autoflower strains, well, unless you want to further bastadise the available bag seed in Australia that is. It's bad enough that the big sativas strains from Asia have all but been lost with the introduction of Skunk in the early 80's, the rest is history of course.... but I digress...

Try this, put a heater in the grow room and keep it a CONSTANT 30C, that means all day and all night, stick the mothers under a 400w HPS use 18/6, 20/4, 22/2 24 fucking 0, whatever, and watch them reveg. Post your results back here seeing as we've all taken the time to respond to your question.

carry on....

Louise is right in her thinking, well spotted love. I`d think there`s more to it but, a few preflowers an experienced grower would ignore...

You running a few old flouros, they aint give any heat, breaking down too.

Is the general environment that warm? how the fuck you sleep? Without a heater you aint got anywhere near that temp 24/7... Either way they stressed...

Bufo`s on the money with limited info...both with his advice and criticism.

Your temps are varied, your lights are dying, your mums are stressed.

Work on the basics...

give me time and ill get sum fotos up.this isn't a recent development, theyve been showing pistils for about 12months that ive ignored bit im thinkin that it maybe qhy im having troubles getn my clones to root and ita gone from a couple of pistils at the upper nodes to actually forming buds.

so maybe the light spectrum as about a year ago,wen power costs increased,I started reducing wattage where I could and the first to go was was the 400 in the veg tent replaced with the t5s. temp isn't a factor as they were doing this in summer too.

sorry about the tardiness in replying and the spelling but ive only limited net access and had to do this on my phone.

Well, I'm call it, this guy knows shit about growing......Experienced grower my arse, anybody who's grown cannabis once knows what a friggin preflower is...........

If ya say its's flowering dude, means its got buds all over it.......not a couple of pistils at the nodes.......

I've taken mother plants from 400w MH and replaced with 80w CFL bufo....my plants never gone to flower, so its got SFA to do with light intensity......

Cheers Louise.....I just assumed this guy knew WTF he was talking about...........

Peace. Nibbler.

A few things I'd check if it happened to me would be to get new nutrients, make sure I got new globes that are blue light spectrum dominant for veg growth, maybe a different brand or later model if available as there are a few options, as well as making sure plants are positioned as close as possible to fluro, and finally important in winter bottom heat 24 Celsius root zone & nutrient temp. as a plant grows its sexual hormones develop and increase .... .... the older the plant the more sex hormones within .... its obvious that when a plant reaches a peak in maturity (in what may usually be late vege for the strain) ..... that there is going to be adequate hormones for the plant to display sex .... as light hours decrease these hormones are radically increased ...... its basic biology... nothing to do with 24hours light ....

just my worthless 2cents ...

and no... cause a plant pre-flowers .... in vege ... does not make it an autoflowering strain .... (huge fallacy... i hear on forums .....)

peace'

*EDIT* a range of issues can cause your plants to flower early .... a plant flowers in the wild for survival ... if its environment is stressful it will begin procreation for survival....... fact.
