Why auto over non?

Recommended Posts

Personally I'm of the opinion that anything that can enable someone with little to no experience to start growing is a good thing. The more people growing, the more normal its seen, and the more likely we are in the future to see some real change of law.

I couldn't give a rats what they're growing and for what reasons, why should I? Has absolutely nothing to do with me. Good luck to you and your methods....I hope I can help out where I can.

So why do some get so fired up about topics such as these? If you're not interested and can't contribute in a positive fashion then pay the thread no mind.

Calling people names via the Internet would have to be in my opinion the most weak as piss, gutless form of bullying. And doing it in a forum where people a trying to learn and discuss doesn't do the site any favours at all.

I understand some of you more experienced guys probably get frustrated seeing misinformation, and we all very much appreciate when you correct it. But please keep in mind that most people post information here, right or wrong, with the best intentions of helping another and don't deserve someone three parts down their throat for trying to help. A simple "no, this is how it is" with either a link to a reference or a quote from your experience to justify would be more than fantastic.

So you'd be referring to Sharpies posts Ferret? lol

This is the problem with the auto crowd, they hate the criticism.

You noobs would do everyone, even yourselves a big favour if you invested your time honing your growing skills instead of big noting yourselves deffending ditch weed. It's a lazy way to grow that spreads recessive weak genes, simple.... ah but that's right, the lazy growers don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves... and all for what? to save a couple weeks flower time. It's a morally bankrupt position to take.

If you can't handle the opinions from other growers WHY ASK THE QUESTIONS?

Was that nice enough?

Would ya like tissue ferret and a Cuppa concrete? lol . At least these posts are on topic and not some social graces spiel from someone whos been here 2 1/2 months.

I for one knew this would be a heated subject, and ya expect people to be passionate and have strong views.

I see auto grows, nothing has really impressed me yet, I like the practicallity of being able to grow and not be bound by a light cycle to trigger flowering and a bit shorter total grow time, but for the yield, I cant justify using em.

Peace. Nibbler

I think you need more experience to get any decent yield/grow from autos then you do from regular photo-period plants .

I have only really seen a few good auto growers on this site , everyone else struggles and ends up with pathetic little plant you can not even get 1 oz of dry smoko from and if i got that from my 1swt few grows i would just chuck the towel in and stop wasting my time .

How hard is it to change a bloody timer .. really .

I bought a few autos from bonza for my 1st order and to be honest it was purely accidental.

I was a fair few beers/billies in when I placed the order and didn't really put much thought into what I was getting . And the first bunch of seeds that came up on the site happened to be autos so I clicked, read stats and purchased.

I think I confused "early flowering" with "fast finishing". Dumb arse :fool:

When I realised the mistake I'd made I figured fuggit, like Badseed said, most of the autos I've followed (aside from those of like 2 members on here) end up being little spindly things which don't yield much. I'll save em and give them a go at times when I've got a little room for them in the tent and need to make up numbers. So currently I have 2 little ones going in the corner but they don't look promising and I don't have high hopes for em. I'm growing them out of curiosity, experience and for a little variety around harvest.

Again agreeing with badseed it isn't hard to set up a timer. A perk outweighed by the advantages being in control of when they start to flower and being able to take clones/keep mothers.

That's inside.

Outside I can see the appeal for someone with little to no knowledge to stick a few in the veggie garden any time of year and get a result but if that person was growing somewhere with others growing outdoors and you don't know what a male looks like, you might have some pissed off neighbors!

It not a question of light!

It's a question of space!

I've tried to grow photo plants in my fridge and it's just a major fuck up...The only way would be to have a Mother plant and take clones and send them to head.

Just as Bufo has described....Once again I don't have the room for that type of setup.

If you are a lazy grower then Auto's are not for you because you will end up with shit results.

Your one of the few that have autos dialed in buzzo and we understand why you grow autos but people saying autos are made for newbs or lazy growers i think is complete BS .

You have proven that you need some growing knowledge and expereince before you have success with autos which should prove that autos are not really for newbs , I have yet to see any good grows from people with very little experience / no experience do well with autos. From reading your diary and posts you need to be pretty on the ball with feeding, pot size ,light etc. to get the most out a a auto .

Yet these things are as not critical with photo period plants , So a new grower stumbling along has a chance to correct fuck ups before going into flower and still have a chance to get a good yield .

I am not knocking autos or people that grow them but , Autos are not for newbs or lazy growers .

why auto of non ?  :x

well in my opinon ( which is like an asshole , everyones got one !!! ) autos are a very cool thing to take advantage of empty grow space in my cupboard whilst im on 18/6 vege . When i do an indoor photo run im usually having only 2 or three plants on vege cycle so i drop a couple of autos in there to take advantage of the space whilst on my photos are doing there thing "most" of the time when i switch to 12/12 the autos are close to being done and ive got some smoke for my 18/6 expense whilst the photos are on there 12/12 and flowering  :yahoo:

hope that makes sense , thats why i like a good auto , again my opinion :give_rose: peace
