More sticky icky

Recommended Posts

Hi ya, was speaking to my local shop owner today. Getting a new MH bulb for my upcoming veg. He asked if I had noticed if I had seen the difference in resin after using MH at the end of my flower. Had no idea what he was talking about. Got to chatting and was informed that, in the last 1-2 weeks of flowering. A few prodactic growers change there bulbs back to MH once there girls are on fresh water. As the light spectrum has more blue light which is better for resin production, then gives them 48 - 72 hours of total darkness. Turn all lights off. To really give killer resin at the end.

I am really interested in anyone that has tried this or has any tips. As I am almost on fresh water, so going to give it a go. I don't see how it could hurt, only give same results or better. Just wish I had a spare lab I got really test if it does work

It makes sense and I've heard that the blue light can boost trich production, but I'd say go full spectrum if you can (both MH and HPS) for those couple of weeks. I've read about the 48-72 hourse of darknesss method in either Jorges or Ed's book. It's meant to work by inducing some stress that causes an increase in THC.

If we only had access to a gas chromatograph machine, then we could sort this one out :twiddle:

Yer I think I will just put one MH in and keep the rest HPS. It does sound prodactic but I like the idea of having something more to do at the end then wait. Last 4 weeks seam to drag and drag.

Yes would love to be able to test my THC and CBD through the grow Phase like the dudes from greenhouse seed co.

It will be interesting to see if it does work. I will try both.

heya Chopperw33d =) , I have tried the putting the plants into darkness at the end for a day or two, and to tell ya the truth, I can't tell a difference.

Think it may be a bit of an old wives tale...........

I do see the advantages of adding a MH in late flower, it will help fill em out slightly, but I think resin production is more influenced by keeping your temps down late in flower.

Seems the hotter I drive em at the end, the less quality I get. So this time keeping temps under 25-26C to see if it makes a difference.

Have a crack mate, gotta suss these things out, and your not going to do any damage to them.

Peace. Nibbler.

Cool, keep us posted on the results.

i its interesting ... but tbh i think resin production is strain dependant

Agreed definately a heritable genetic trait. But shouldn't resin production reach its maximum potential (limited by its genes) when the plant has ideal conditions.

Would have your sticky girl been a bit more icky if she got more light?

Either way sounds like you got some awesome mouth watering smoko there!

I love sticky girls

Yum :bongon:

U.V. light is supposed to make plants create more resin. The theory is the plants create the resin to protect themselves from the ultra violet. Hps globes have very little u.v. ,but some M.h globes do have reasonable levels of u.v. Sunpulse have a 10,000k M.h globe specifically for finishing, sposed to use for the last 10 days. A mate of mine uses them, but really hard to tell if they make much difference...

A voice in my head told me one day, that the Real Red Devil grows high in the Australian mountains for that very reason. The Real Red Devil grows high in those mountains , where it is Dry, So dry infact that when people climb the mountains they weep, not at the site of Red Devil , but because they are allready sweating like pigs when the Tally Ho papers unfold.
