"i am a medical marijuana patient. i participate in the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program {OMMP}.

there are some things i would like to share about my experience with medical marijuana.

it is simply unreasonable for the gov't to continue telling patients who benefit from this natural medication, that it is ineffective. this is an amazing analgesic/pain reliever. i use it on a nearly daily basis, primarily in the evening when my pain is at its worst. i suffer from severe chronic pain and i have terrible reactions to prescription medication. i become nauseated, then vomit, by then then my head is in such a spin while i continue fighting nausea and finally my stomach begins to cramp and hurt. i cannot function for several hours. while i sit and ponder the physical relief i experience from using this natural medication and weigh it against the prescription drugs, i have to question the credibility, intent and motivation behind the govt's insistence that this simple plant offers no medical benefits to suffering beings. its like saying bananas aren't yellow! this medication is not addictive and while no one should drive or operate machinery while medicated with marijuana, it does allow me to function and continue on with daily activities with greater mobility. each day there are more medical benefits discovered for so many different psychiatric/emotional problems, physical problems, diseases and health benefits derived from consuming foods prepared with the sterile seeds. its a source of fuel, fabric and paper. its a renewable resource. each day the gov't comes out with more convoluted "creative" studies to try and diminish what we know to be true. are all of us lying? my father told me that when he was a little boy during the early part of the last century, his grandmother sent him to the drugstore with a dime to buy a marijuana cigarette for her ailments. what happened? they had it right, and now sick people are arrested for finding medical relief? where did things go so wrong that cigarettes and alcohol are legal and this plant, a plant that has never been attributable to one death, is not ok? the only insanity here is that our own gov't prefers to see its people suffer the toxic and addictive side effects from prescription drugs. i don't get it. the human body actually has receptors already built in to use the medicinal qualities of marijuana. their argument is old and tired and needs to be changed so suffering humans can have the benefit of using this incredible plant to ease their suffering. we deserve credit for having the intelligence to know what works for us, what helps us and we should be able to grow and use this medication legally, safely and without fear. people using marijuana for medical purposes do not want to become criminal. is it really a crime to just want to feel better?
