A POLICE officer working with the NT drug squad has been arrested - over drug offences.

Police arrested three people after raiding several homes under Operation Maverick yesterday.

"One of those arrested is a 30-year-old serving NT police officer, attached to the drug and organised crime squad, " Acting Commissioner Shayne Maines said.

The other two people arrested are aged 22 and 31.

"The matter remains under criminal and disciplinary investigations and no further details will be released at this time," Mr Maines said.

Drug squad cop charged over drugs

A POLICE officer working with the NT drug squad has been charged over drug offences.

The 30-year-old officer was arrested along with two others on Thursday after police raided several homes.

The officer is attached to the drug and organised crime squad.

He has been suspended from the police force without pay and remanded in custody until Monday.

The officer has been charged with: possessing a trafficable quantity of a dangerous drug, supply of a schedule two substance, three counts of possessing a dangerous drug, administering a dangerous drug to self, possess thing - administer dangerous drug, two counts of stealing a schedule two dangerous drug.

The two other people, aged 22 and 31, both of Wagaman, were charged with possessing a dangerous drug, administering a dangerous drug and possess thing - administer dangerous drug.

Drug squad cop to plead guilty

A TERRITORY drug squad police officer has been ordered not to contact any of his colleagues after he was charged with drug offences.

James "Jimmy" Deans, 30, was granted bail in Darwin Magistrates Court after spending the weekend in custody.

He will plead guilty to 11 criminal charges, including stealing, possessing and supplying dangerous drugs.

Magistrate Greg Cavanagh released the officer on the condition he not contact his two co-offenders, aged 22 and 31, and the entire NT Police Drug and Organised Crime Squad.

He will re-appear in court later this month
