anyone have experience with light spreader

hey stoners just wondering if anyone has had any experinence with the light spreaders as they are suposed to get rid of the hot spot and redirect the light else where in the room. i thought i would ask as i have been researching and found mixed results some say it blocks to much light and others say there great any help would be great

Hey stix, used to use one in summer many years ago before the invention of air cooled reflectors. I reckon they do block a fair bit of light and wouldnt use one these days. They do help to stop burning if you got an open reflector and cant pull those top rods any further from the globe.

would totally recommend a cool tube , wouldnt even contemplate 1000w without it!

 

my hotspot is 8c above ambient , so got to 32 today on a warm autumn arvo. thats with tube and centri running . imagine it without!

hey bluntman im using the ajusta wing kit with light spreader and running lights from 7pm to 7am but will change tonight from 8pm to 8am i have a temp gauge in the bedroom and one in the tent last night in tent was 28 and outside was 23 but tionight im adding another fan to blow more cool air in from the hall way hopefully drop it another 1 degree or so. i might go talk to hydro shop fella tomorow bout it last time i was there he was trying to sell me one i just hope the spreader isnt robbing my plants of light

those are good temps

 

is that in the hotspot ? I hang my temp probe about 30cm directly under the light to get the hottest point the plants might get

 

I wouldnt worry too much about intake fan with those kind of temps , they are pretty solid already

hey bluntman those temps are at canopy height just to the side of the bulb

I have two of them, they came with my shade. Yeah they block some light but allows me to keep canopy temps down and colas close.

Im running one atm, so its been good to read this.

I figured that a good reflective bloker, mine has holes in it so some light has passage the rest is reflected back into the shade the rediredted back onto the grow.

I imagin the cola directly under the bulb will be robbed but better that that a singed main cola

The thory sounds good but the proof is in the pudding.
